Which pick? NHL discrepancy

When the Canadiens traded Grabovski to Toronto for Greg Pateryn and a second round pick, there is a discrepancy as to which year's pick it was.

If we look in Pateryn's profile on Canadiens.com, it says:
Signed Letter of Intent to attend University of Michigan (CCHA) in fall of 2008. Traded to Montreal by Toronto with Toronto's 2nd round choice in 2009 Entry Draft for Mikhail Grabovski, July 3, 2008.
This matches what's in Grabovski's profile on NHL.com, which says:
Traded to Toronto by Montreal for Greg Pateryn and Toronto's 2nd round choice in 2009 Entry Draft, July 3, 2008.
Yet, it seems that everywhere in the news including on the news release on Canadiens.com, when talking about the Lang trade, they are mentioning the second round pick in 2010?

So which one is it?

I'd rather it be a 2nd in 2010 because the 2009 draft is suppose to be the deepest of drafts in past while.

It was always a 2010 pick from all media reports at the time of the trade. Why the profiles on the official sites are wrong I don't know.

But the reports at the time of the Grabo trade made it a 2010 pick and the reports at the time of the Lang trade all say the 2010 pick acquired from the Leafs.

Toronto traded their 2nd in 2009 to the Isles in the Schenn trade up deal, so it's the 2010 pick.

The Habs owe their 2009 2nd rounder to Calgary to complete the Tanguay trade, so it has to be 2010.

yes but we are talking about TO's pick anyway. But i guess that Marc is right on this one and i have no idea why NHL.com says 2009.

But we still have Anaheim's second round pick because of the Huet trade! It's nice because in the end, we traded two 2nd rounders this year, but we still have a 2nd in each and every year!

This would be Washington's pick, not Anaheim, right? Or did Washington own Anaheim's second rounder?

That's getting complicated!

We get :

Anaheim 2nd in 09, previously acquired by Washington, in the Huet trade
Toronto's 2nd in 10 in the Grabovski trade

We traded :

Our own 2nd in 09 in the Tanguay trade...
Toronto's 2nd in 10 in the Lang trade

We still have :

Anaheim 2nd in 09
Our own 2nd in 10

I wish we could have traded our own 2010 2nd rounder rather than the Leafs 2nd rounder which could possibly be #31 overall, (almost a 1st rounder). I'm sure the Blackhawks were aware of this during trade negotations.

And Gainey was also aware of that...

Because of the reports on the Lang situation, I guess we didn't had the choice to give up that pick and not ours because Toronto was close to getting Lang. It was that pick or nothing IMO. But it's alright anyways...I have a feeling that Toronto won't be too low in the standings in 2010...

I'm sure all of us would have preferred it be the other pick. I'm sure Gainey did too.
Heck I would've preferred it be a 3rd rounder. I would've preferred a 4th rounder even more.

It takes two to make a deal. If you offered our 2nd, and the Hawks insisted on the Leafs pick, would that stop you from making the deal?? It wouldn't stop me.
