Along with Andrei Markov and assuming it is a forward maning the right point, who is your choice to rotate there?
I know Sergei K. has some experience but he doesn't have the bullet shot required to play there. I'd hate to lose Kovy's presence around the net. How about Tanguay? Does he have any experience at the point?
If it is to be a defenseman, I know many will say it will be Brisebois but I can't see Brisebois being in the top 6 on D and having a regular spot, notwithstanding injuries. Hamrlik is OK but not a permanent solution. Gorges maybe?
I would try Andrei Kostitsyn. He's got a great shot, and he could replace Streit on the right side for the one timer (we need a left-handed shooter). If the play cycles he can also take Kovy's place 'cause he is a natural winger who's confortable on the right side. Also, we have a lot of wingers to replace him in front of the net.
If it does not work, try Tanguay. He's got a great shot, superb vision and he is pretty good defensively.
Sergei Kostitsyn is also a good backup solution even though he lacks NHL experience. He played that position in Hamilton and London, so it's not new to him.
One thing is sure, I would like, at least for the start of the season, to run the power play with 4 forwards and see the results. If we are too vulnerable defensively, we might need to use two defensemen. In this situation, Hamrlik, Brisebois or may be gorges if he increases his offensive skills this year.

For the left wing on our first unit i'd rather see a big guy who's not afraid to go in traffic, hide the goalie and score garbage goal (like Akost last year). Tanguay is more of a perimeter player.

Kovalev need to stay on the right side, it's his office. No one control the power play better than him from there and the diagonal pass by Markov is devastating. I put A. I'd like Markov to take over Mark Streit's role as the trigger man on the point. So any of Tanguay, Lang, S. Kostitsyn or Brisebois (when dressed) could excel in the role of his setup-man.
Reason being Carbo would want Markov out there for the first 1:30, and he'll want 2 defencemen out there when the PP ends. Not much point in having a forward on the point for the 2nd unit if he won't see much time anyway.

So you're saying, instead of Sergei on the second unit, it would be, say, Georges or Breezer.

My vote goes to Hamrlik on the #1 unit and Brisebois on the #2 unit. If that doesn't work out, switch them and if THAT doesn't work out.....try Tanguay, S.Kostitsyn or Kovalev there. I would even be willing to give Gorges some powerplay time too.....just to see what he can do.
People who puts Markov on the right side during the PP forgets how devastating was his diagonal set-ups to Kovy for the one-timer.
We scored at least 6-7 goals on this play last year.
Also Markov likes to pinch up to the the middle of the faceoff circle waiting for a pass, so if he is on the left side he can fires his shot much faster.
Definite possibility of S Kost on the point. He did it in Jr (alone with 4 other forwards cycling). He plays a good responsible defensive style and is reliable with the puck.
I don't think A Kost is as good as his bro from a defensive play standpoint
We're going to have 3 very strong and fairly even offensive lines. Why not simply keep the lines together and have three PP units. Everybody's happy and getting some time on the PP and the lines aren't disrupted.
At the point, Markov usually plays at least 80-90 seconds of it. On the right side, use Brisebois or Gorges or Hammer.
