Some Practice Notes from Zipay

A couple things that stood out
Quote:
Gomez, who's flying, and Drury often are playing on the same line.

Drury / Gomez ......... flying

Rangers may finally get that 06/07 Buffaloesque transition attack with the better D and goaltender to back it up

Or a certain Russian player.

Or just because they're friends and its not even actual training camp yet and players are just skating with whoever.

Or maybe they think a certain American player is ready for the 2nd line.

They want to and should play to their strengths. No more Jagr the Rangers should be a faster breakout team. Gomez should thrive and Drury lived it in Buffalo

So I guess we really are going into the season with quite possibly the softest top 6 forward corp of all time.

Heres hoping speed kills.

speed always kills......

i would love to see drury with gomez.....that is only if renney thinks dubi is ready to play second line and anisimov is ready for the nhl....or sundin is signed for the second line.....i dont really like the idea of moving a natural center to wing and moving a natural winger to center.....

Or a certain center from Parma, OH.

I've advocated playing Gomez with Drury for a while now.

If one of those guys can hit like Brown and put up 60 pts I'll be stunned. Happily so.

I like the quote about Prucha, having had "less opportunity" to show his offense in the recent past, with the idea that he will have more of an opportunity to do so this year. I've always tried to maintain faith in Prucha's abilities, though I assumed that if he got back on track it would be with another team. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong, Renney will stick with Prucha and he'll be successful for us once again.

The tragedy of PP is, if he does light it up, he'll probably be traded. If he doesn't, he'll likely be traded. I just don't see a long term future for PP on this team.

Why do you think he'll be traded if he turns it on?

To make room for Korp and bring in a shut down d for the stretch run. If he climbs back to say at least his 22 goal sophomore season, I think he'll be a very tradeable asset, and we need Korp's size on the wing for the POs.

Even if they don't sign Sundin, its a good move. That means Dubi will take second line with Nass or if they do sign Sundin, he will kinda slide right in like a lubed...errr salmon.

Someone has to go and Prucha's the likely candidate. I don't see a role for him on this team. There's already a small left winger on this team. If he's going to be on a third line and getting little PP time, I'd rather see a grinder who can pot 10 goals and provide something else that's needed than to see Prucha in that spot.

On Drury being a winger...I'm still mixed about this. Perhaps I'm still mixed on the signing.

hmm, so assuming no trades, our lineup would be something like:

Drury Gomez Zherdev
Naslund Dubinsky Dawes (assuming he can play the right side, you could always flip flop em if you have to)
Rissmiller/Prucha Fritsche Callahan
Sjostrom Betts Voros/Orr

Dubinsky is probably the only guy who is not soft.

Drury-Gomez-Zherdev
Naslund-Dubinsky-Dawes
Callahan-Fritsche-Prucha/trade Prucha, add Shanny
Voros/Orr-Betts-Rissmiller

It kinda scares me that we are so reliant on Dawes.
