New Jersey-Florida

To Devils:
Jay Bouwmeester
Ville Peltonen

To Panthers:
Zach Parise
Danius Zubrus
3rd round 2009

In this trade the Panthers would adress a good scoring young centerman who would be a succesor to Ollie Jokinen in Zach Parise. Along with Ville Peltonen it would dramatically increase there scoring ranks while still having a good young defensive core. The Devils get in my opinion a top 10 defense in the league and would dramatically strengthen there Defensive position and a veteran forward who could be a 3rd or 4th line player.

The devils cant and wont lose Zach parise. For a player like him, we should have to be paying way more. His contract is too good to give up, especially when we dont even know if we can keep J-Bo after this year.

In the end, Zach making a little over 3 a year for 3 more years AND still being a RFA is way better than J-Bo's contract. In terms of Value though, Bouwmeester for Parise straight up is pretty fair IMO.

Pretty much sums it up. Bouwmeester is an impending UFA, while Parise is locked into a very sweet deal and is very much the motor for the NJ offense. Zach probably isn't moving any time soon.

From a Devils POV, no.

First of all, Peltonen is worthless to the Devils. They already have a slew of 3rd/4th line players, to the point that they don't have enough roster spots for them. And while Bouwmeester would look great in red and black, the Devils can't afford to give up one of their top forwards who is signed to a very cap-friendly deal for a UFA-to-be defenseman.

If I'm Lou I really really really want to say yes, but in the end I will have to decline for reasons stated above. However if we can negeotiate a long term deal with Bouwmeester before the trade I would take it in a heartbeat.

HAHAHAH, nice. Fan favorite for a player they desperately need. Like offering Ottawa fans J-Bo for Alfredsson

Drop the rest of the trade and just leave it Parise-for-Bouwmeester.

IMO it'd be a good deal because NJ has always been a team built on great goaltending and very strong defense, and you can't get much stronger than Bouwmeester.

Parise gives FLA a replacement for Jokinen, and him and Horton would be lethal together.

What happens when 'J-bo' jumps ship at the end of the year, and Parise is putting up a PPG in Florida?

Why ??? Bouwmeester was one of the worst d-men for team Canada at the IIHF tournament in Québec city this year. I really think this guy is overated by alot of people on HF and the media. Don't get me wrong, the guy is good but he isn't a "no brainer" in this kind of trade. With youngsters like Corrente and Burlon I dought that Lou would sacrifice his best forward for another D-men, especially if prospects like Bergfors and Vrana are having difficulties making the big club. That would leave us with a pretty solid defence but our offense would take a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE hit. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't our problem scoring goals rather then stopping ???

There are extraneous bits that are unnecessary here, but the crux of this proposal is solid.

It would be absolutely imperative from New Jersey's point of view to get him signed to a long-term deal as party of the trade, but Parise for a signed-on-delivery Bouwmeester (inked for at least five/six years) is not so terrible.

Florida gets a good, young player to build around; New Jersey gets the big minute #1 defenseman it has been seeking since the retirement/departure of its two studs on the blueline. If the Devils can get that in place, Lamoriello is not going to worry about the age disparity. Bouwmeester is just entering his prime. NJ's problem right now is that it is a defense-first team that lacks a true #1 defenseman at present.

You would absolutely need to get Bouwmeester to go along with a long-term deal to make it work, of course. Otherwise, NJ won't touch it.

It's not a steal for either side. It's fair and meets needs.

Parise has a 3.125 cap hit for the next 3 years / Jay is going to get Minimum of 5.5 long term and probably more like 6+

No way in the world New Jersey trades Zach for Jay.

Parise >>>>>>>>>> Kaberle

And to the original trade, heck no. Parise in only 23 and is the future of this franchise. He has scored over 30 goals the past two seasons (2 of 3 years) on a defensive Devils team. You place this guy on an offensive team and your looking at 100+ points in a few years easy. Any Devil fan that said yes to this seriously needs to have their head examined (lol no offense guys). Parise is the ONLY young offensive talent we have, i would not trade him period unless the offer was amazing.

Bad trade for the Devils, they lose an up-and-coming star for an overrated dman, who may not even re-sign.
