10 Canuck predictions.

Join in with your own Canuck predictions if you like or just tear mine apart

#1 If a Canuck defenceman is moved it will be Krajicek.

#2 Mark Parrish will be a Canuck sometime this year.

#3 Mike Gillis will add another young/prospect goaltender to the organization this
year (maybe Jonathan Quick?).

#4 Pyatt will not end the season as a Canuck.

#5 Demitra will score 30 goals this year.

#6 The Sedin twins will sign a 5 year extension this season.

#7 Pettinger will be moved - most likely waived.

#8 Grabner will be the first recall from the Moose this year.

#9 The Sedin's will both get 80 points this year.

#10 The Canucks will add a high profile player at the trade deadline ie: Gaborik.

Probably right, but I hope not. Our D isnt getting any younger, and our prospect depth is what, McIver as a #6, and Suave 4-5 years down the road as a #2-5? I'd rather keep Krajicek around.

#2 Mark Parrish will be a Canuck sometime this year.

Meh.

#3 Mike Gillis will add another young/prospect goaltender to the organization this
year (maybe Jonathan Quick?).

Meh

#4 Pyatt will not end the season as a Canuck.

This team needs more big bodies, not less. Pyatt stays.

#5 Demitra will score 30 goals this year.

One can hope. I'd say 20 is more realistic.

#6 The Sedin twins will sign a 5 year extension this season.

Probably

#7 Pettinger will be moved - most likely waived.

In favour of? Pettinger is cheap and a great bottom 6 player. I doubt waiving would be necessary if he is moved.

#8 Grabner will be the first recall from the Moose this year.

Depends who gets injured. Hansen will definitely give him a run for his money.

#9 The Sedin's will both get 80 points this year.

Agreed.

#10 The Canucks will add a high profile player at the trade deadline ie: Gaborik.

Depends how Detroit fares this season. I wouldn't MG to load up, only to have Detroit sweep everyone. They look fairly invincible going into this season...

1) Krajicek has no value and too much potential to be traded.

2)Mark Parrish will not be a canuck

3)Demitra will not score 30 goals, not with his teammates

4)Pettinger has value and if he is moved, he won't be waived.

5) The Canuck's won't acquire Gaborik until next year. Anyone who thinks that Minnesota and Vancouver are going to make a trade are fooling themselves. This is deadline too. wow..

Am I the only one who's still skeptical about Detroit's goaltending? I just don't see Osgood/Conklin holding up like Osgood/Hasek did last year.

Theres a few question marks for sure, but Osgood is just coming off a cup win, and Conklin played lights-****ing-out while Fleury was injured last season... We'll see, I guess.

Regardless of that, as suggested above, you don't not make a trade to try and win the Cup because you think another team is going to walk away with it.. that is stupid.

1. Bernier scores 30 alongside the twins.
2. Demitra fails to live up to expectations.
3. At some point, Vigneault will put Darcy Hordichuk on the powerplay.
4. Vigneault will be fired before the All-Star break.
5. Before November, Gillis will acquire at least one forward - with a defenceman going the other way.
6. Canucks won't name a permanent captain, and instead will rotate the "C" between Ohlund, Mitchell, and Kesler.
7. Sami Salo will miss significant time due to injury.
8. Roberto Luongo will finally win the Vezina.
9. At least once, Canuck fans waiting to watch the team on TSN will miss a large chunk of the first period due to the proceeding game going to the gimmick.
10. Going into the last two weeks of the season, the Canucks will be in a position to finish somewhere between 3rd and 13th in the West.

You don't mortgage the future on a 2-3 month rental when Detroit and Dallas/SJ are running away with the conference and you haven't beaten any of them yet... Make a deal that makes sense over the long term sure, but this team doesn't have the prospect depth to bring in guys that will be leaving in July.

AV getting canned is gonna be a topic that has legs all season long I bet (unless of course we really come out and surprise everyone).

If your #8 comes true though, AV can sleep easy that #4 is far less likely.

1. Bernier lines up with the Sedins regularly for the month of October, but that experiment doesn't last into November as Vigneault goes back to shuffling the lines.
2. Ryan Johnson will get some time on the point on the PP after Salo and Ohlund go down to injury.
3. Canuck fans will complain about the Eastern Bias in the TSN power rankings.
4. Roberto Luongo, sensing the need for a bowel movement, is late for practice on two occaisions.
5. Jeff Cowan will make the team out of traning camp, and gets playing time over Matt Pettinger.
6. After realizing what kind of coach Vigneault is, Demitra does his best Naslund impression and sulks.
7. Darcy Hordichuk will be used at least once in the shootout.
8. In order to increase ratings, the NHL brings in a new wrinkle: place a puck on top of a ladder, and have both the skater and the goalie climb up the latter to retrieve the puck. The team who gets it first is awarded a point. This is repeated 5 times.
9. Gary Bettman throws out more rhetoric regarding the CBA (yes, it's that time again).
10. Markus Naslund will struggle to score 20 goals with the Rangers; however, will pot 2 goals against Vancouver.

I don't know if I have 10 predictions, but...

1) Kyle Wellwood will have a career year for Vancouver, and establish himself as a solid 2nd-liner.
2) Matt Pettinger will not finish the season with the Vancouver Canucks.
3) Neither Cody Hodgson nor Michael Grabner will be on the opening night roster.
4) Mason Raymond will struggle to hit 40 points and will spend time in the AHL this season (sort of a semi-sophomore slump).
5) Vigneault will not be fired.

That's all I got...

Ok.

So If Naslund scores 30 goals or hits 60 points you have to change your sig to my choosing and keep it until the start of the 09 training camp and of course if Naslund doesn't hit 30 or 60 points I will change my sig to The King of Kings (triple H is more like the king of goofy nicknames...though I haven't followed Wrastlin in a while.) or whatever you have in mind.

1. Canucks = Western Conference Finals
2. Mitchell will continue his 0.00 GAA from last season and will not allow a goal at all this season...as a goaltender.
3. Luongo will score a goal this season
4. Posters on this forum will soil their pink panties when the name 'Sean Hill' is mentioned yet again this season.
5. Krajicek will begin the season as the Canucks board whipping boy. Then he will finally blossom into a solid defensemen
6. Fin will continue to be the worst player on the team. All he does is eat fish and skate around.
7. 'tEh Gillis' will make a deal that will give the Canucks two solid scoring lines/threats AND not damage the farm in the process.
8. The Moj will put the hammer down one too many times and injure his foot.
9. A new Drinking game will develop when CBC does Canucks games where you drink whenever Marc Crawford utters the phrase 'It is what it is'. Fans will have their stomachs pumped before the end of the first period as a result of participating in this contest.
10. Canucks will raise one million dollars in their Canucks for Kids telethon....and they will finally, for the first time ever, actually market this telethon for Canucks fans OUTSIDE of BC....in advance of the telethon. (BIG ****ing hint for the Canucks front office staff.)

In order of when they'll happen

1. The Sedins will get their multi-year extension (a given), we go into the season with what we have (no additional moves)

2. Hodgeson gets a 9 game tryout and plays well enough to stay, but is only decent offensively his first year (35ish points?)-- is not yet even close to being a key player. Grabner/Hansen (tragically) get sent back down after a strong camp (especially by Hansen) simply because there isn't much room left on the team. Wellwood blows, can't earn a roster spot and gets scapegoated and then waived, only to do well somewhere else

3. Bernier only puts up average Sedin-linemate numbers (40-45 points?) but the Sedins get up to 85ish+? points with his help, which screws up the consensus about Bernier. Demitra is only as good as Naslund was-- disappointing but useful (and a bit better physically/defensively), but Raymond improves to a legit top sixer (50 points?)

4. Burrows and Kesler become legitimate Selke contenders (maybe not Burrows, but Maltby/Draper-esque?) Kesler taking another step forward, Hansen stays with the team after a callup and gels instantly with them (25ish points). Johnson is VERY useful and we have a very good defensive year, re-establishing our identity as a team that works for everything they get, is hard to play against, annoying as hell and very gritty + Hordichuk tough.

5. Bieksa is far better than last year but far worse than his first year, partly because Mitchell has a fantastic Mitchell-esque year. Ohlund's play gets worse, but still barely a top 4, Edler's play grows exponentially and is neck-and-neck close to being our best defensemen with Mitchell. Same old same old with Salo but a bit worse (plays great, gets injured, plays average), Krajicek breaks out a bit and becomes at least a 30+ point top 4/5 defensemen.

6. We surprise the rest of the league by, while not really having an overwhelmingly amazing year (still fewer than 105 points), staying neck and neck with the rest of the division and having a chance at the title (although the Northwest becomes considerably weaker than the rest of the conference)

7.Luongo has a better year, but doesn't completely carry the team like he did his first year-- Still Vezina finalist. Sanford solid

8.Vigneault does NOT change the way the team plays, and rightfully so. Another coach of the year finalist, and we finally start to give him the credit he deserves as someone we definitely want to hold onto for a LONG LONG time.

9. By the time we're completely sick of hearing about him and hate his guts, Sundin decides he wants to play on our team. He replaces Hodgeson who becomes a spare.

10. We have a good playoff and get a 3rd round exit by the Wings who win the cup again. We feel good about our team, but hopeless that it looks like the Wings are going to keep doing what they're doing for a very long time.
