Whenever you see #75 (Panin) on D, you can be almost certain the Emelin is besides him. They are being paired together. Makes me also believe that because of that pairing, Emelin mostly concentrate on his defensive play. The guy was able to make some good rushes offensively and show some good offensive skills. But seems to me that Panin always makes those rushes now making Emelin being a little more conservative.
Not likely at all. Cann will be the starter for this year then he should be in the AHL the following year so Missiaen will have to wait a year or hope for Cann to be traded at some point. I'm watching tonights game against the Bulls, Missiaen is in net and has been ok. He's let in 3, the first goal he didn't control the rebound, went off him and he tried to poke it away but was too late as the forward grabbed it and slid it under him. The 2nd goal was just after another Bulls PP ended, 2 on 1 that got Missiaen moving, nice goal. The 3rd was a PP goal for the Bulls, defensemen shot it from the point, it hit someone in front and deflected in, no chance for Missiaen.
Man is he huge though. He seems to be in good position a lot, he's square to the shooter most of the time. Looks like he moves well for someone that big, one thing I noticed is that he seemed to go down too quickly and while he can cover a lot of net when he drops down, you can still see daylight. His stickhandling didn't really stand out so perhaps that's something he'll need to work on.
