Also, too bad Torp isn't getting any games. He has yet to play a regular season game of any sort since 06/07.
Great to see Missiaen with a solid win in his 1st game of the season. Hopefully there are alot more to come this season.

Whenever you see #75 (Panin) on D, you can be almost certain the Emelin is besides him. They are being paired together. Makes me also believe that because of that pairing, Emelin mostly concentrate on his defensive play. The guy was able to make some good rushes offensively and show some good offensive skills. But seems to me that Panin always makes those rushes now making Emelin being a little more conservative.

That has to be one of the worst calls ever on Nikulin....

And Emelin with his usual stickwork that will cost his team a 5 on 3.....

Just a heads up, Emelin's Ak Bars are about to go into the third period vs. Metallurg Magnitogorsk. No points, 2 pims so far. You can watch it here live:

Thanks for the link Whitesnake, excellent timing Friday afternoon at work, boss is out, I've done all the jobs I need to do, haven't had a lunch break but do get some live Russian hockey. Awesome

That #14 for Metallurg looked rather handy with the puck, shame he couldn't finish off that rush on his backhand.

Seems that #14, Simakov is Metallurg's version of Desharnais. It says 5'5'' on a website. He may not be the fastest by I like how #39, Platonov, plays. Preds 2001 draft pick.

Just realized that once the game is done, when you click on the link I gave, it starts the game all over again. So even if people didn't see it like, you can already see it on archives.

Did you expect it to be AHL level? Look at the Russian players in the NHL.

Missiaen is starting in net tonight again. I guess this is going to be like that until Cann comes back from his NHL camp.

Do you think Missiaen can steal the starter job?

Not likely at all. Cann will be the starter for this year then he should be in the AHL the following year so Missiaen will have to wait a year or hope for Cann to be traded at some point. I'm watching tonights game against the Bulls, Missiaen is in net and has been ok. He's let in 3, the first goal he didn't control the rebound, went off him and he tried to poke it away but was too late as the forward grabbed it and slid it under him. The 2nd goal was just after another Bulls PP ended, 2 on 1 that got Missiaen moving, nice goal. The 3rd was a PP goal for the Bulls, defensemen shot it from the point, it hit someone in front and deflected in, no chance for Missiaen.

Man is he huge though. He seems to be in good position a lot, he's square to the shooter most of the time. Looks like he moves well for someone that big, one thing I noticed is that he seemed to go down too quickly and while he can cover a lot of net when he drops down, you can still see daylight. His stickhandling didn't really stand out so perhaps that's something he'll need to work on.

Missiaen's years away and with his incredible and sudden growth, it's better for him not to start, I'd say. The 08 draft are a hard-to-guess bunch all around. At least for me.

The Subban-less (along with Murphy, Lalonde, Cameron, Tangradi and Johnston) won 4-2 over Missiaen (SP?) and the Petes.

The beast played pretty good in net for the Petes. Id say 3 of the 4 goals he didnt have a chance on.
