Jeanneret signs two-year extension

According to Alan Pergament.

In other news, Quinn said that play-by- play man Rick Jeanneret has signed a two-year contract extension. His contract and the contract of analyst Harry Neale now will expire at the end of 2009-2010 season.

Good news! But does that mean he didn't have a contract for this year?

This contract will be Larry's excuse for not getting Pominville signed.

Thank God.

I was honestly worried about him retiring soon

In addition, the Sabres plan to put morning skates and interviews with coach Lindy Ruff online on game days.

Sabres.com, which will be linked to the NHL Web site, NHL.com, also will have a feature that enables fans to call up every goal scored in every Sabres game and eventually every player shift or hit.
Cool.

So the Sabres have two years to win the Cup, so I can die having heard R.J. scream, "The Sabres win the Cup! The Sabres win the Cup!"

No pressure or anything.

I'm pretty sure there was a mix-up somewhere. RJ was already signed to this season. This is just a one year extension so he finishes his career at the same time Harry Neale does.

Just like what was discussed in the Neale press conference last season.

Slighty confusing then, I know he is signed for this season. I thought he was sign for 2 beyond that

Neale was signed to a 3 year deal in 07. 07-08, 08-09, 09-10
RJ was signed to a 2 year deal in 07. 07-08, 08-09.

I recall banter back and forth between Neale and RJ at that 07 press conference about Neale will be trying to convince RJ to sign to do the 09-10 season as well, so that both can retire at the same time.

Now if indeed this is a two year extension for RJ than he's back for 09-10 which is Neale's final year, as well as the 2010-2011 season. Which while being a GREAT thing, doesn't make any sense considering the fact that RJ is getting up there in years and has been thinking about retirement for a few seasons now. Also, that would mean that he would still be working after Neale's contract is up and Neale retires which doesn't make much sense either.

I'm pretty sure we'll be getting a new broadcast team for 2010-2011. Hopefully not consisting of Sylvester, Robitalle or Ray. And I say that RJ gets a banner raised to rafters once he retires.

Once RJ is gone, I'm pretty sure I'll be watching games with no audio.

they are both retired in 2010. 05-06 was the year he should have made the cup call. he knew it, and the team knew it too.

jim lorentz was a MUCH better analyst and always brought up relevant, but not so obvious parts of the game to dissect and show. neale just sort of rambles and brings up obvious blown assignments or good plays that everyone watching the game can see. he has the voice of classic hockey games, but the brain of a 10 year old

I think Neale is smarter than that. When he was teamed with Bob Cole, they were great because they complemented each other nicely. Cole did his job - play-by-play - and let Neale inject opinion, analysis, etc. RJ should stick to play-by-play and let Neale analyze the game. Neale has a great sense of humor but the two don't mesh.

Read it and weep. This is from a TBN article about Barnaby going to ESPN.

Larry Quinn, the Sabres’ managing partner, said Ray has a bright future with the team.

“Rob is a guy in the long run we sort of view as a replacement for [game analyst] Harry Neale when Harry retires,” said Quinn. “We’ll have to wait and see if that fits into [Ray’s] world.” Neale has two years left on his contract.

I could deal with Ray in that spot if I had to, its RJ's spot that worries me
