Leafs don't want McAmmond or Schubert. Add something quality

Nah, we coulda re-signed Kaberle without giving up any assets in the offseason but let him go to NYR.

Thats silly to compare him to Redden, who is miles and miles worse than Kaberle.

When they start that sort of delusional imagining, just remind them that Kaberle was removed from killing penalties in favor of Wozniewski. Even Redden was trusted to kill penalties on the second unit. Detroit wouldn't take Lidstrom off the pk if he'd just lost a leg in a bailer.

You can't be seriously considered a top defenseman if your coach trusts a fringe NHLer possibly destined for the AHL this year over you in penalty killing and late game lead holding situations.

That's why (that, and the smooth skating offensive power) the Phil Housley comparison works so well.

weiss for kaberle

Weiss for kaberle sounds fair. But, it's not going to happen. Belak and McCabe are there. They do not want more ex leafs players this time.
O'Sullivan?
Koivu?
Bouchard?[/QUOTE]

He also played with Blake on the left side and put up career numbers the year before. People are trying to explain his poor year on anything but him.

How does that sound fair? Kaberle outscores him while playing defense

Maybe... O'Sullivan, 1st + for Kabs

Think Carter and a 1st, but O'Sullivan isn't as good as Carter hence the +

Oh I wouldn't say that.

O'Sullivan is a pretty good forward in his own right.

Not as proven or promisng as Carter is tho. Close, but not quite the same.

Carter is more of a franchise player (potentially)

O'Sullivan is more of a 2nd line center, more of a support player.

That support player had quite the first NHL season.. I don't see how you can say after a 53pt rookie season he's not as promising as Carter.

Although, he's not nearly as good as he thinks he is. (or wants to be paid for)

He's already expecting to make more $$ than Kaberle is now, if the reports are true. ...that is pretty bad.

First full season yes. Maybe not rookie, but still an impressive number in his first full year in the NHL.

OK, money wise it may be different but what the argument is that I think O'Sullivan and Carter are more comparable then others may think. And I don't agree that he'll max out as a 2nd liner.

I'd rather look in a different direction. I wasn't overly impressed with POS.

Look at Alex Steens first NHL season, pretty similar, but on a much better team. Even POS has a chance to not improve his point totals next year. I would never dream of trading Kaberle one-for-one for a 20-goal scorer

Leafs fans,

You aren't getting anywhere near the Kings' 1st round pick so just forget that idea.

Might I suggest that if you want to deal Kaberle for a young forward you look at playoff contending teams that are short on defense and have that type of player to deal.

I would think if the Leafs are going to trade him they would want a young good centre in return.

So who could fill this need for the leafs?

I just really wish that he accepted a trade at the deadline for Carter and a 1st because i would love to have carter now.

So who could it be?

Weiss?
Dubinsky?
O'Sullivan?
Koivu?
Bouchard?
plz none of them... get a pick for him... trade deadline boys
