Well of course having 2 days of training camp, 1 scrimmage and then 6 games in 7 nights has got to be the dumpest thing ever. **** that.

So whats the count now...

Kovalev
Koivu
Laraque
Hamrlik
Brisebois
Halak

All injured (I'm aware that some are for preventive measures but still, I don't remember this many last training camp)

As long as he's heeled for the season opener, no biggie.

It is ridiculous the amount of groin injuries in the NHL. The Wings had like 4-6 at one time a few years ago!

Well if it's somewhat serious, this might actually be one of the best chance for Chipchura to do something. Can't wait to see Kyle play, and I really hope he forces his way to the line up. With one less forward on the team for a game or three, this is his chance!

It's not he doesn't want... it's that he can't.

this is probably just a minor thing... but let me remind you that kovalev has never put up back to back 82 game seasons in his career.

I really don't buy it. My best guess - it's just a method for protecting your top players from unnecessary injuries. If all those players were that injured Carbonneau would be a lot more nervous than he is.

Like Carbonneau said: these types of injuries are common around this time. Not a big deal, thank God.

It's no big deal.

Keep the kids playing because that's really what this week is all about. Abit of ice time for the vets but a ton for the kids.

I cannot overstate how stupid this training camp schedule is. I think Gillette has provided great ownership and I understand that many, many other teams are behaving just as stupidly but I strongly think Gillette should dump 2-3 exhibition games next year.

They'll all probably be back for the season opener, but what's amazing this year, is even if the opener was tonight, our lines would actually not look real bad :

A. Kostitsyn - Plekanec - S. Kostitsyn
Higgins - Lang - Tanguay
Latendresse - Chipchura - D'Agostini
Bégin - Lapierre - Stewart

Markov - Komisarek
O'Byrne - Gorges
Bouillon - Brisebois

Price
Denis

several NHL teams actually have worst lineups... and we'd be missing Koivu, Kovalev, Laraque, Hamrlik, Halak.

You realize Kovalev has not played a game yet? How is his injury related to the number of exhibition games? Explain...

Yep, every preseason each team has at least one, probably two or more guys sitting with groin injuries. I guess it's from being off skates all summer (as Kovalev said he was).

I agree (even though a preseason game didn't directly lead to Kovalev getting hurt). 6ish exhibition games I'm cool with, but what are we playing, 9? Is that really necessary? We're only risking injury with that many games...

But do you know that we have about 52 players, that's more than 2 teams and close to 3 teams.
With that amount of players, 6 games in 7 nights is like having 3 games in 7 nights.

With 52 players, I don't see a problem even they play 7 games in 7 nights.

All these groin injuries point out that the new initiation technique in place this year might be too extreme.
