I think I underrate Dubinksky's edge. Still, I don't think he feels he has anything to prove this year (I mean its pretty much a guarantee he has a roster spot). Its the fringe guys and the goons that duke it out.

You guys are lucky, having been able to watch 3 games already. I'm so stoked for tonight!

@ Jackson Ranger (I can't quote your post for some reason):

That's why I said he's not a fighter. And no, I wouldn't want him going against Matt Spiller or Clarkson. I was just trying to point out that the lineup we're trotting out isn't completely incapable of defending themselves/each other as the Devils poster seemed to insinuate.

While it's true that we don't have any thugs, per se, we do have some tough players capable of dropping the mitts if things get too hectic. I wouldn't worry too much about a clown like David Clarkson...

That's what I was getting out. You can have a tough team without having multiple goons. We're fine. Even our guys like Petr Prucha find their way into instigating scrums.

I was thinking Mara, too, but Hockey Fights says he's only been in 6 in the past 9 years, and none last season. I don't know how accurate that is, so take it FWIW.

I still know nothing about Denisov, but his PIM numbers seem to indicate he'll fight, as you said.

I'll agree, the Rangers of today will definitely stick up for one another. I'm just not sold the Rangers have someone in the lineup tonight that will stop Clarkson from taking some runs at guys.

Agreed, last year in the playoffs we could only get one matchup against the Rangers. This year Holik with Zubrus, we will have two shutdown units capable of some offense. I think NJ did that because of Pittsburgh/NYR/Philly's depth at center.

Oh, i see its Broduer in the GDP.

Well... Mr. Voros, meet Missuer Broduer - I'm sure theyll get to know eachother reeeeaaal quick.

If I were Renney I would tell Voros to be in his face all night. Dont let him think hes off the hook since Averys gone.

Nor am I! But I don't think that having Orr in the lineup (or any other enforcer) will completely stop Clarkson from doing so. It's the whole argument about how much of a deterrence enforcers create, which I really don't want to get into.

Me neither because we might be here for a few days.

I would just rather have Orr kick the crap out of Clarkson than see another Ranger fight to a draw or even lose to Clarkson.

Andrew Gross says that Lafleur is the backup, and that Zaba won't dress. Also says that the plan is to play Lundqvist the entire game Saturday.

It's kinda crazy that the Rangers are playing for the third day in a row. I've been busy and still have to watch the previous two games on tivo.

That would have been great, but I kinda doubt it. Afterall it's a whole helluva' lot to do.

What was I suppost to say, thew Rangers will throw their weight and pick on the weak Devils? Rangers have some tough players but they aren't playing this game while NJ are using some AHL goons. Thats life.
