Add the shutdown boys + Kopecky to refrain any kind of offense we could bring.

Our 3rd and 4th will need to be better than theirs....

I understand it's not about the score but the experience and the effort. Still a blowout like the Boston one is not really appreciated.

So what. We have some skill in our lineup in Chipchura, Latendresse, Higgins, Subban, Lang and D'agostini. We also have our best defensive pairing which will be playing against the top line the whole game. And we have Carey Price in net which should be a deciding factor. I don't see the big problem here.

meh, it's preseason, I doubt anyone cared about the 8-3 loss vs Boston (besides RDS talkback )

The team is pretty much done, the vets won't give their all out there when they know they are in, in the previous years we had open spots available and had great competition in the preseason, not this time...the team is known, it's basically getting ready for the real thing in 16 days. At this point, all the injured players should rest and be ready for October 10th, let the Hamilton players get some ice time with the CH jersey, it must be very cool for them.

I agree with you, I don't care about losing. But what will getting blown out help teach our young players? Or what will it allow management to assess? It's best for everyone if the roster we ice is competitive with our opponents. Tonight's could be, but I'm not overly enthused by it. Still, we'll see what guys like Chipchura, D'Agostini, and White can do.

I dont feel like going back to find the quote but the best line in the league this year will be in philly...Richards, Briere and Gagne are playing together.

If they stay together and healthy, and Briere or Richards have a good year playing on the wing, then indeed, that will be up there amongst the league's top lines with Heatley - Spezza - Alfie (for when they're together), and this new Detroit abomination.

They've tried to split them nearly every year at times to give the team secondary scoring. If Nick Foligno or whatever other young player they move up, isn't cutting it, they'll be back.

Ryan - Getzlaf - Perry could be a good one as well.

There are lots of good-looking lines around the league. But I definitely think for its combination of size, skill, toughness, and two-way play, the Detroit trio is a strong contender for #1.

Datsyuk > Richards
Zetterberg > Gagne
Hossa > Briere

Lines like Briere-Richards-Gagne stand a very good chance of getting broken up over the course of the year, but if they stick with it it's a hell of a line.

nope. this game matters, its the deciding factor whether we can compete with wings or not.

I really hope Stewart makes a splash tonight, I really can't help but like him. It'll be nice to see how Price's conditioning and weight loss pays off.

Subban and Belle together....well I hope Subban plays cautious tonight..like he did in the WJC.

They are like two very similar players though Subban is better defensively and maybe even offensively. But uhh...im a little scared about that pairing just based on the style of play.

Racist.

Shame that the game isn't on the tube tonight, they would definitely be great too watch. I disagree that Subban is better then Belle offensively, though.
Belle, skating, is a treat to watch; haven't seen too much of Subban but what I did see was impressive.

With that line-up Price will most likely face 15-20 shots per period

i'm gonna be at the game, leaving for Detroit in an hour or so (Gotta get a round of Wii Fit in).

I'd love to see Detroit fall apart tonight. Only Zetterberg out it looks, if we get some serious chemistry from Lats and Lang, and our defence really backs up Carey, I'm going to be happy. I have a feeling it'll be a very, very tough game, but most Montreal/Detroit games are tough to watch. I'm just happy to be seeing the Habs for the first time (I've seen players play in Junior or College but never the Habs).

I'll be wearing my only Montreal Canadiens jersey to the game, which fit me when I was 12 years old haha. It's got my name on the back and is number 26 (Rucinsky wore 26 and was Damphousse's left winger, so since I always wanted be on Vinnie's left wing, I wear 26) so if anyone is going and will see me, be sure to say hi.

I'm hoping for the best. Anyone calling us out of this already needs their head checked. A good effort is what I want. If we keep this close, even if it has a lot to do with the Wings defensive style, I'm going to be very happy. This is a serious litmus test, even if its a pre-season game. Can we show heart without Koivu? Can we score on the PP without Kovalev? I'm pumped.
