OT: Tragedy hits ex-Oiler goalie Jussi Markkanen

As a father, I'm numb reading this:

http://communities.canada.com/edmont...-and-cole.aspx

My heart is with him and his family at this time. RIP little guy.

saw this last night on TSN.

really sad.

A few of the oilers players are thinking of going to Helsinki for the funeral. That would be extremly nice of them to make the trip for their ex-teammate.

Said he was playing with his little brother in the apartment when he got up onto the window sill and fell out. Obviously proper safety measures weren't taken with that window to ensure that something like this couldn't happen, but at the end of the day its just a tragic accident. Its a sin and the parents will probably never forgive themselves for overlooking something like that, i know i wouldn't anyway. Condolences to the family.

I am usually imune to tragic stories about people I don't know but when it comes to kids .. it's always harder. The image of the mother looking down on his kid that is on the pavement... five stories bellow ... It's awful and so unfair

sad...i heard about it this morning and i thought whoever left the window open should be shot (i didnt know the details)....just read the story and i guess there was a window and it was broken...i guess from that one of the two kids broke the window. i hope for the other kid's sake it wasnt him...it will haunt him for a very long time as it is

The same thing happened two weeks ago in Boston...soon, we'll see some kind of safety tool for windows.
