I know he was signing autographs afterwards although I didn't actually see him. He was at a table with Miller and the line was very long as you might imagine.

Edit: My wife informs me that he had no visible signs of injury (nothing being iced, etc) that she could see while he was signing after the practice.

Vanek has a pinched nerve in his knee that he injured on Friday, Gaustad has a bruised shoulder, and Mair has an injured knee. Vanek and Gaustad will miss Monday and Tuesday's preseason game, and Mair might be ready to play by the final preseason game.

I got this info from Mike Harrington's Sabres Edge blog entry.

I think it's the first time, I've heard of a pinched nerve in the knee.

During his physical?

How'd that happen? Doctor hit him too hard in the knee with that little rubber reflex tester??

I hope MacArthur, Paille, Kotalik, and Hecht are all practicing their face offs.

No biggie's really. No need for TV to play preseason games anyhow. Let him rest up for when it matters.

Nice of you to come to the rescue of a predictable and weak Connolly joke.

I'm not "in-the-know" but I'm guessing that a pro-athlete physical is a LITTLE more than "turn your head and cough."

Considering the way many of the vets played in last night's game, I'd say they all could use as much work as they can get to prep for the season. They've had 5 months to "rest up for when it matters."

Ta,

Not exactly an update of all updates, but I saw Vanek today at the Galleria mall and he was definitely limping a bit. According to my expert analysis, I think he will miss the rest of the pre-season.

(please don't ban me)

Tom was injured at the physical exams last friday by an seemingly over-anxious doctor. "He wobbled and joggled my knee somewhat hard and then a nerve got pinched", Tom told thomasvanek.at.

I rolled the dice. Even though I have a bad feeling about Vanek's knee. I took him on my fantasy team.

Ruff said Paille has a bruised thigh: "He'll be OK, he'll be a day or so." Ruff said Gaustad jammed his thumb: "X-rays were negative, so we'll see how he in the next couple days, too."
I tried to change my first post to updates. (didn't work)
