Andreas Nodl darkhorse to make the team this year? Therrien and Saunders raved about him again tonight.

I feel a bit redeemed, i've been all about this guy since i first saw him play... many here thought he wasn't much of anything

Has Nodl quietly climbed ahead of Giroux on the teams depth chart?

How come Gagne did not play? I thought he was in the best shape of his life?

I doubt 2 preseason games has bumped him up that far in the depth chart. If that were the case, Jon Sim would have been wearing the C a few years back.

I asked the same question. He isnt playing tonight in the 3rd preseason game either. If he is feeling so great then why not play? I know u dont want to risk injury but if hes so much of a risk from playing a preseason game then how the hell is he going to survive 82 games plus playoff this season? He's going to get hit during the season, he might as well get hit now when the play isnt as intense.

This is on the Flyers' website from yesterday:

Quote:

2:26 p.m.
Flyers forward Simon Gagne is targeting Saturday, September 27 as the date in which he will return to game action when Philadelphia hosts the Carolina Hurricanes at the Wachovia Spectrum at 1:00 p.m. Gagne is with the team this week for its preseason games in Ottawa tonight and London, Ontario tomorrow, but is not scheduled to play.

He spoke with the local media following a skate at Scotiabank Place on Wednesday.

"I would love to play tonight, but I feel I need a little bit more time to practice and get the feeling a little bit," he said.

"It's been awhile [since] I played a game or practiced, and the last time was seven months ago. Having just a couple practices might be a little too early. That's why I'll have an extra five days of practice and by Saturday I think I will be good to go."

Gagne was asked to compare his situation with that of Patrice Bergeron, who, like Gagne, missed most of last season with a concussion. Bergeron played in the Boston Bruins' preseason game on Monday and registered a goal and three assists in an 8-3 win over Montreal.

"First of all, I'm happy for him," said Gagne. "And yes, it helps having someone who went through the same thing and you see he had success right away. Hopefully it will be the same for myself."

I was thinking this as well. This is why I hate handing rookies spots on the team and assuming they're going to play on the top line. So far in preseason, Nodl has made a far better case than Giroux.

Well if he needs a little more practice then he is not in top shape?

I mean Bergeron already played. Scored and 4pts I guess he is in top shape?

Started a new job and I can not check threads like I used to. Sorry

Is that based on the whole pre-season or just the two preseason games?

I was at the game. It was an ok game, Flyers got their ***** handed to them most of the game... But the Sens seemed to be icing their complete team from what it looked like.

Anyway, got my jersey signed by Bob Clarke, Paul Holmgren and Eric Desjardins. All 3 were very cool, they were sitting in the 110 section box. I spotted them during the first period, Clarke told me to come back at the 1st intermission. I was pretty god damn drunk so I'm sure they had a pretty good laugh.

Pre-season has only been two games (to that point)

Good for you. Those are three names I'd love to have on my jersey.
