it was nice getting a glimpse of Del Zotto. I'm not sure there's anything he could've done to stay with this team though.

he looked capable, but hardly better than anyone else who already is a regular. Corey Potter has really captured my attention, kid looks better than Kalinin by a country mile.

Someone on RFC got Grachev gooing to HFD and the rest to juniors.

That would be interesting!

Grachev can't go to Hartford, he's only 18.

Since Grachev is a Euro, he can go to Hartford, especially if it's just for training camp.

Well then. Why did he get drafted in the CHL draft like the posters said?

Europeans drafted out of Europe are not bound by CHL rule, even if they are subsequently taken in the CHL draft. The CHL team just has his rights if he ends up going to the CHL.

Its a legal issue -- the NHL, AHL and CHL got a deal that any junior needs to play their years in the CHL before they go to the AHL.

However, any player, who have played proffesional already in the Europe, aren't seen as "juniors", and therefor aren't hit by that deal so they can still go to the AHL.

So any European who have played in a mens league in Europe can go to the AHL at any age; while a european who only have played junior hockey in europe and every NA have to go to the CHL untill they are 20.

Should be fun seeing Grachev develop in HFD.

Grachev to Hartford. That is awesome.

Only 18 years old, this kid is going to be a player.

Seeing how Del Zotto looked comfortable and not out of place, it seems we may be seeing him sooner than thought.

If he progresses properly, he makes the Rangers next year.

Seems odd to me. Especially given how many bodies are already slated to be in Hartford. Unless part of the reason is to ease his adjustment to North America -- he would have been the first Russian to ever play in Brampton, in Hartford he has Anisimov (and his parents, assuming they return this year).

Still, it seems to fly in the face of the Rangers recent trend of being extremely patient and calculated in developing players.

Squishy- Yeah, and Denisov too probably.

But you do want him in a half big role anyway; like not in a Brodie Dupont of last year position. Where he plays like 75% of the games on HFD's 3rd line, and no PP basically.

Another defenseman making the jump directly from Juniors? Very unlikely. The kid played well, but he's very young and will still be very young next year. And having him make the team would not be a good sign for Sangs.

I dunno. I think wherever Grachev can get more ice time might be better. Although there is something to be said about playing against the competition in the AHL over the CHL. I'm just worried it might be too much too soon?

The management thinks he can handle it, and you know I think he probably can to.

Maybe they decided on the AHL so that if need be he can be called up mid season, maybe they're that high on him.
