USA Hockey and icing.

Couldn't find a thread on this.

USA Hockey wants to make icing on the PK illegal. Are you in favor or in complete disgust with this attempted rule change.

How the hell would you kill a penalty with out getting the puck out of your zone and thus icing the puck?

Do they expect a player to take the time and try to flip the puck out? IMO this is a lame proposal

Absolutely asinine. Hockey is trying to destroy itself for more scoring and, apparently, to get more fans.

Soft dumping the puck out to the neutral zone is not really very hard. The main issue with this isn't "how do you get the puck out of the zone?" as much as it is "how do you get a line change?"

This idea is totally stupid. You'll end up with people on the ice for the entire penalty kill, and people getting hurt because they're putting themselves in bad positions because they're dog tired.

Unfortunately it is not. They are going to try it out in a few markets to see how it works. Hopefully it gets shot down.

I would like to hear the arguments for it. Cannot believe someone actually thought of this and it is being considered.

It figures that the person who voted in favour of it did not leave a comment. Hmmm...

They might have picked it by accident. I got in a heated argument with my mother of all people about it and her point was if you're penalized you then why should you be allowed to ice it. I told her wait till it happens and watch injuries skyrocket.

It'll be like that stupid "blue puck" idea.

I don't know much about USA Hockey but seriously is this their way of trying to improve their system in the US or what?
I'm glad Hockey Canada hasn't done crap like this, at least as far as I know. They do a hell of a job with minor hockey. USA Hockey should consider taking a page outta Hockey Canada books.

funny thing is I actually thought about this once to myself. I was going over in my head how the NHL could increase scoring. I quickly dismissed it b/c it was a horrible idea. I can't believe USA hockey is going to try this out.

It better not follow through. Cause if it does and moves on to the NHL I vowed never to watch or play hockey again.

If they make icing on the PK illegal, can a team on the PK still opt to punt on 4th down?

LOLZ, watch the powerplay percentages in wherever they implement that to be in the high 80s. The players there will be in crap when they try the NHL.

Yeah because players go from youth hockey straight to the NHL
