Almost exactly my sentiments. Except I don't hate my job, and my job isn't the reason I'll miss the game live. I'll miss the game live because I'm a night owl, and I'm rarely up before 10 a.m. (which is what time it starts here on the west side of the country).

I'm aware of that. All I was saying is that the time to debut a new jersey isn't a preseason game that is not much more than an AHL tilt between the Phantoms and Albany River Rats.
VOORHEES, N.J. - The much-anticipated return of Simon Gagne to the Flyers' lineup will take place today when the team says goodbye to the Spectrum in an exhibition contest against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Gagne, who missed 57 games last season with a concussion and related symptoms, will debut on the Flyers' top line alongside Mike Richards and Danny Briere.
"I'm looking forward to it. It's going to be special for me," Gagne said. "It's going to be fun to play in that game at the Spectrum. It's going to be like a real game."
That's because the Flyers plan to use most, if not all of their regulars to give the fans a treat in the old barn a final time.
What Gagne has to remember is that his game legs are not going to miraculously appear. He can't move on adrenaline alone.
"He's been out so long, I think it's only natural he's going to be a little nervous," coach John Stevens said of Gagne. "But it's part of the process he has to go through."
Gagne said the atmosphere would be reminiscent of the first time he played at the Wachovia Center as a rookie.
"I'm sure I'm going to be nervous, like a regular-season game," Gagne said. "I might feel like a rookie out there, like my first game.
"I'll put pressure on myself, but at the same time I have to understand it might take more than one game to get in game shape."
The Flyers are expecting to play goalie Marty Biron for 60 minutes, and key players like Kimmo Timonen, Braydon Coburn, Jeff Carter and Mike Knuble will play with the top-line guys.

Well, thank you for thanking God/whom/whatever for me, but I really didn't have anything to do with getting this game televised on NHL Network. But, all the same, you're welcome!

This quote is my fav: "If they asked for volunteers to press the plunger when the time comes to implode the Philadelphia Spectrum, there'd be a list of ex-NHLers a couple of miles long."
Idea scenario is Richards takes on his role as Captain by scoring in front of all those former Flyers captains. Then Gagne get hit along the boards, pops up and gets a sick feed from Briere for a goal on his first shot of the game to prove he is ready to go and he and Briere have some chemistry. All while Biron has another strong performance and keeps his shutout streak alive giving the flyers the win in their last game at the Spectrum. Everyone goes home drunk and happy as they get in the car, turn on the radio and hear Howard hit a grand slam in the bottom of the first.
I want the Phanatic to come across the parking lot and do something in the spectrum, that would be cool.
