...and yet you still lose in the second round of the playoffs? You either win, or you don't win. The Senators didn't win. Montreal didn't win.

As much as you want to believe that a bigger fanbase matters, it ultimately didn't. Common sense applies. You try to gloat about meaningless fluff. It's transparent and it doesn't work.

Not really. Just like you guys and the Flyers. And just about everyone else besides the Bruins in the last 15 years or so.

before last season, when was the last time the habs and flyers met in the playoffs??

before last season, when was the last time the sens met the penguins in the playoffs

just going by your logic here...

what does this have anything to do with what was said? i know it might be difficult for some of you, but staying on topic really isn't that hard.

What, when Ottawa beat the Pens in 5?

A team wants revenge.

Ottawa was beaten by Buffalo in 5, Ottawa beat Buffalo in 5.

The reverse essentially happened with the Pens.

I'm not sure what your point is.

There was a lot of emotion between Sabres fans and Ottawa fans, and Pens fans and Ottawa fans, because of the playoff series they were involved in.

my point is that rivalries go both ways. you're arguing that playoff series create and maintain rivalries, which i completely agree with...but then you undermine (or at least that's what my impression was) the sens "rivalry" with the pens.

the sens and pens should have at least a mini-rivalry similar to the one that exists between the habs and canes, due entirely from playoff emotion.

I guess you weren't around the Ottawa and Pens boards much over the past 2 playoff seasons.

Colby Armstrong and Patrick Eaves?

Gary Roberts?

Lots of emotion in those games and among the fans.

If the Habs win the Cup anytime soon, I propose that Papa Lazarou be put on suicide watch.

I perfectly understand how you might not be sure on how this whole 'playoff' thing works... it had been a while since Montreal was there after all.

But you see, when teams are continually contending for top positions through the season, and then meet each other in the playoffs in repeated years... it does help to create some strong emotion between the fan bases, even if the series only goes 4 or 5 games... it can even continue into the next season as some questions may have gone unanswered

of course...but then why say no rivalry exists between the sens and pens? this is where i'm confused.

Well, I guess my argument was that this year's series being so uncompetitive, it wasn't as emotional as it could have been.

I think it's pretty funny.

I bet even Papa Lazarou would find it funny.

He's pretty bizarre.

Last year, when you guys had a home n home with Mtl, I posted that Sens fans, adult Sens fans, had to switch from other teams, assuming that they had an alleginace to someone as a kid.

I went on to say that such people would be unable to maintain long term realtionships and were less likely to care for sick pets.

I thought, in my warped mind , that that was a decent gag. Nothing that'll cause anyone to spit coffeee on the keyboard, but I liked it. Some guy got really mad and told me about how long his parents had been married and how much they spent on their dog.

If my joke wasn't that funny, that reaction was.

Sounds like the guy was jealous of his parents' dog.

Maybe they spent less money on him than on the pet.

you gotta like how they keep putting sarcastic remarks to get around the fact that they are actually bashing us...

its sarcastic remarks if only a few do it once in a while...when the entire thread is doing it every thread they are getting away with being a bunch of tools

I like them, they have a good sense of humor. They don't foam from their mouths when someone makes fun of their team.
