Good, I didn't like Pock anyways. He had his chance a year ago but got beat out by Fydor, played too soft for his size and made too many passing mistakes.

But watch him , for some reason when we get rid of players, they do uber well.

He was only gonna stay on the east coast or he was gonna go back to Europe.

Meh, small potatoes.

Looking at the Isles depth chart, he's probably going to be competing against Meyer for the 7th defenseman/first fill in if there's an injury.

I can't see him edging out any of their other guys at the moment. Still, that's a step closer than he was with the Rangers

uber well? Not every player that's dumped will be garbage. These things happen. I understand you are still stung by this organization's dumping of Michal Grosek.

Just so you all know he probably will be in a similar position with us as he was with you guys. He will be 8th/9th man on our depth chart, and probably wont come up unless we have an injury of sorts.

Although one of our posters made a good point. GOrdon was an AHL coach so he would have seen Pock a ton, maybe he has some sort of special interest. I doubt it but it is possible he will be in the AHL again this season.

I thought that if the Islanders want to put him in the AHL he still has to clear waivers or be offered back to us first... I thought there was a funny snag to the rule... i could be wrong.

Are you out of your mind? IMO he should be 5th or 6th. C'mon Streit is your top defender!

Would not be shocked if he scored 30 or more points out on the Island.

No big loss here. If anything we gain something from him not eating up any minutes that should go to our prospects in the AHL.

I agree, I think with him gone its a better situation for all. He can possibly end up playing on the NHL squad and wont be taking up space in Hartford. I wouldnt mind him as the 7th dman but at this point he was very expendable.

How do you figure? We held onto him how long before? Selanne, Hull, Iginla were all players that were offered up to Smith for Kovy and we held him and waited for that break out year. He gets dealt to the Pens and has that break out year. We get him back and it's the same old Kovalev. We trade him to the Habs and he is thier best player. How is it not what the poster said, that players do well after we deal them?

Alexei was let go twice having not done well in his situation in New York. But as Singn' points out, I'm not sure how you compare someone that's let go on waivers to someone who was traded.

Because we're talking about a guy who couldn't make the Rangers and was claimed on waivers. Not a trade.

And to add...

the implication seem to suggest this is something that happens regularly...I'm sure there are tons of Rangers cast-offs who didn't do well after they were let go by the Rangers, either via a trade, waive, or what-have-you. I can't think of any Rangers who were waived and did well (although someone mentioned Cairns - and he's a guy I actually liked on that third pairing).
