Which begs the question: If that wouldn't shock you, what would? Pock as an all-star or playoff MVP?

I'm not really upset about this at all. He didn't have much of a future here, in my opinion, and never really impressed me that much. That's not to say he's bad, he may be able to grab a spot on the Island, but I just don't think he had much of a chance here, so good luck to him.

Atleast he'll have a realistic shot at the NHL there. Good for him I guess.

No one wanted him off waivers for free a season ago, why do you think anyone would want to give something up for him now?

This Islanders claimed him? Too bad for him he wasn't picked up by an NHL team.

I kid, I kid.

Pock was a career AHL'er and glad he's gone because it bumps up other players I have more interest in.

He did score a big goal for us at Boston late in 2007 which we later won in a shootout, so that will be his legacy in my mind.

Prucha's next!!!!!

Streit, Witt, Sutton, Martinek, Campoli, Gervis and Myer and even Hillen will be above Pock in the isles depth chart. He will have a outside shot at the 7th D-man.

Campoli and Sutton are expected to miss the opener and could be out awhile, which is why the Isles picked up Pock.

I would expect to see Pock playing on the 10th.

I would say 3 of those guys are legit NHL defenders. Ya need more than 3 man!

I'm happy for Pock he gets to play @ the NHL level & will finally get a real shot to see if he can really make it in the NHL.

Guess that means Potter makes it with NYR.

Wow. Radek Martinek and Andy Sutton aren't legitimate NHL defenders, but the 27 year old Pock-- he of less than 60 NHL games-- is legitimate? Both Gervais and Meyer have seen a ton more action than Pock, and I'd argue that Gervais has a great deal more upside. Yeah, the Islanders defense looks crappy on paper, but you really place Pock ahead of all those guys you listed? He's shown little to nothing in 5 years with this organization.

Obviously Pock hasn't had a shot to show if he is an NHL defender yet. I find it funny that the Isles fanbase just sticks him at the bottom of a sad list without him even getting a game in. I would get it if they had the players to make that claim but c'mon that blueline is bad. There is a reason most think they weill be the worst team in the NHL ya know.

Granted, I've been critical at times of Tom's handling of players-- particularly those getting a look, up from the AHL. That being said, what I did see of Pock in the NHL, he didn't stand out as anything more than a bottom pairing defender, at absolute best. I also caught a good deal of him in HFD, and there he struck me as one of those perennial AHL All Stars that would never really be able to crack the NHL and stick.

I could be wrong. However, I seriously doubt that the Islanders would pencil him into the top-6. They have plenty of guys that have established a lot more than Pock at the NHL level, regardless of circumstance.

As far as their blue line looking terrible: it looks no better with Pock in there.

Pock will be on the opening night roster. Isles already have injuries that are gonna keep Sutton and Campoli out for an extended period and they need D men plain and simple. They'll go with Streit, Martinek who will miss his usual 20 games, Witt who is he gonna pick on now that Jagr is gone?, Gervais, Pock and Meyer with Hillen as the 7th. When guys start retunring I think Hillen goes 1st and if they ever have a healthy d Pock would be the 6/7.

People already answered the 5th 6th part of your statement, but just to clarify Witt and Martinek are way above Streit on the depth chart as well.

And Radek is in my opinion our best defender but thats a debatable even among my fellow Islanders fans.

Regarding the waiver rules, I hope someone will be able to clarify on the ruling. Would Pock have to clear waivers in order to go down to the Bridge?
EDIT* Nevermind I got some more info on his contract status so he would definatly have to clear.

Poor guy, as bad as parts of Hartford are, Bridgeport is worse.

Not a big loss for us, an overgrown former prospect that only showed brief flashes of skill.
