If you guys win, do you bring the cup home with you and wait for another team to beat you to become "Victoria Cup Chanpions" or whatever the name would be? or is it more like Lord Stanley where teams just compete for it every year?

anyways, should be an interesting game
I don't think there's an actual, physical cup that will be awarded.

The Victoria Cup

Is there going to be a presentation of anactual Cup to the team who wins?

If so do you think the Rangers will shun touching it or raising it akin to the Prince of Wales Trophy?

Quote:
The IIHF commissioned a new trophy designed by GDE Bertoni which designed the FIFA World Cup trophy. The Victoria Cup is a gold cup with twelve Perspex – a thermoplastic material – light blue hockey sticks, six on each side, sitting on a marble case and forming a “V” coming up and out of the Cup. The names of the winning clubs will be engraved on the back of the sticks.

BB saying that 5 players on the ice after practice were Potter, Fahey, Voros, Orr and Wiikman. So these will most likely be 5 of the 6 scratches for today's game. The 6th will most likely be Rissmiller.

http://www.blueshirtbulletin.com/

Looks like Renney's going for speed and skill today. The lines will probably look like this (in my opinion):

Naslund - Gomez - Drury
Dawes/Prucha - Dubi - Zherdev
Dawes/Prucha - Korp - Callahan
Sjostrom - Betts - Fritsche

Redden - Rozsival
Staal - Girardi
Kalinin - Mara

Hank (will play whole game)
Vally

It looks like some familiar NHL faces playing today, notably Chistov, Ravil Gusmanov, Karel Pilar and Yuri babenko (former AHL'er)

So far this preseason, the power play looks great. At least we now know that shooting the puck won't be an issue as only Gomez and Redden will dictate what happens on the pp.

I think if it's absolute domination it might as he does say that he wants to play against the best.

Do you really think that is a real thought-process?

I certainly do. It's why some players come over to take less money playing in the AHL for a few years.

They want to play against better competition and better themselves.

I think that if Cherry sees us absolutely MAUL Metallurg, than it would definitely sway his opinion a bit.

If Metallurg wins this game, each player on the team gets 100 grand. What are your thoughts on this?

You guys think Voros didn't make the team? I highly doubt it. It's more of probably deciding whether sjostrom/or fritsche make the club.

Sounds to me it comes down more to money than the result of today's game then, no?

"Rangers Gamenight" is the pre-game show this week. I assume that means no "Hockey Night NY" crap like we saw last year.
