Don't be surprised if hes sent to Phoenix, or Hell if somehow Tampa or NYR make enough salary cap room magically a deal can be struck. But Phoenix or Nashville wouldn't surprise me. Nashville is bleeding out from the last Radulov wound, so they will be crap for Forwards, except maybe Arnott. Savard for a Defender (they are loaded with them) isn't too far from a possible block buster. Also Phoenix managed to get Olli in that steal trade, I think Savard would help cultivate their youngsters, and create a massive threat. (Olli, Hanzal, Turris, Mueller, Boedker, Tikhonov, Savard) that looks like a pretty scary line to play against. Maybe not as scary this year, but in the next 2-3 years, definitely.
Tampa
Nash
NYR
Phoenix
Those are the ones who I think are in the running.
Tampa, NYR and Phoenix don't need another center. I don't get your point.
Come back when Backstrom will equal that !!
Ohh and Backstrom plays with pure snipers like Ovechkin and Semin.
Savard played with Marco Sturm, Chuck Kobasew or PJ Axelsson.
Why the hell would they trade the perfect guy that can make the 4 million man produce.....Doesn't make any chance, though that's the Bruins we're talking about...

.
Washington wouldn't send Backstrom for Savard. The differnce between what we'd project for them this year wouldn't negate the overall game and potential of Backstrom. I'd bet a sheep that they wouldn't make that deal. Boston wouldn't even ask.

There's contractual issues regarding Jay-Bo, and it looks like he's unlikely to re-sign. There's your puck-moving d-man...
The only snag would be if Savard is willing to waive his NTC to go to Florida.
I'd be very disapointed in Martin if he gave up on J-Bo for Savard, even if Savard is productive as he obviously is. I don't think it makes them better. You could be right but I'd be a little bit pissed if I was a Panthers fan.
Of course I already would be so....

That was not the point of my answer !!
Waffledave said Backstrom was better, I said he was wrong !!
In spite of his great offensive upsides, I wouldn't touch Savard. He doesn't know what his own zone looks like and there have been several reports over the years about his attitude.

Who talked about trade values ?!
Err... uhh... we're discussing their trade values in this thread. The word "trade" is in the title of the thread.. and very post is discussing to whom and for what Savart might be traded

Don't act like if you didn't understand, you are more intelligent than that... (I hope)

As your post was on th etop of the page, I was mistakenly under the impression that you felt Savard/Backstrom was a possibly. Obviously, you were not suggesting that it was.
I deeply apologize for misunderstanding the intent of your post. Please, do not shake your head that agressively as it can be dangerous. I sincerely regret any inconvenience that my lack of knowledge may have caused.
In purely hockey terms, I think it is very possible that when you consdier their entire games, Backstrom may be a better player this year, but that is subject to opinion.

The problem is I think Martin is pretty much handcuffed here.
I'm no fan of Savard, I don't think he's the type of player you, well you know, win things with. But if it's between losing Jay for nothing or getting a 90-point center...
That being said, if the Bruins must make the deal now, it probably won't happen. Florida would be wise to wait until the trade deadline and milk the situation for all it's worth.
Who knows though? Who'd have thought Thornton could be had for so little while under contract or that Forsberg would garner so much as a rental? I'm historically horrible at predicting player value in a trade.

Pffffttt context is so overrated.
I think there should be head stuck in the sand smilie.

I think it depends on what the Panthers organization thinks their chances of re-signing J-Bo next year are. I have serious doubts that he'll want to re-sign with them, so I'm thinking they'll have to trade him if they don't want to lose him for nothing.
They are also pretty loaded at D, and although J-Bo is a top notch player, they need offence and Marc Savard would provide that.
My question would then be, "Would Martin be able to get more than Savard in return for a UFA-bound J-Bo?" I'm not so sure.

And that's not counting the main factor here, and that is if Savard would agree to wave his NMC to go to... Florida?

1- I'm definitely not that intelligent..
2- Splitting hairs to prove a point is what I do day in day out at work.. so on HF I let loose and try to understand meaning rather than semantic arguments.

Sorry then... I accept you're apologies I just hate it when people put words in my mouth, I can't help it.

During Ribeiro's first year in Dallas, late in theyear, he got benched, and Tippet said something about not needing 'soft offense'. That struck me because som eteams won cups with players that I thought would become useless, like Ray Whitney or Cory Stillman, who would kind of be in that category.
Ribeiro, to his credit changed his game and played stronger on the puck, and didn't hide on the permiter. Until last year, I thought Savard was a soft offense guy, a guy that I didn't really believe in. He's better than I thought he was but this talk surprises me, he's a perfect fit in Boston. They have a few wingers who need a guy like him, Ryder being one of them.
If Savard's price tag is too high at 5, is giving Ryder 4 a competent move ?

From the Boston Herald article, it seems like the reason for Savard being on the trade market would be due to cap issues... and Ryder's $4 million are definitely contributors to those issues.

Don't worry, I got your back, no one's getting away with calling you intelligent on my watch. You can count on me buddy.
