I would try to get rid of Ryder at 4 Millions way before Savard at 5 Millions...

But what Do I know... I'm not as competent as their GM...

If you gave me the choice between Backstrom and Savard I'd pick Backstrom, even if it was just for one year. He's just a better overall player.

As for Savard being traded, Florida is looking for a #1 centre now that Jokinen is gone, and Bouwmeester could be available.

So they sign a winger that may resurrect his career by playing with Savard , then realize that they can't afford Savard ? I just think that they have to move the guys they don't want somehow, Schaefer, maybe even Axelson, though he's a good player, so that they can deal for a d man.

Unless the idea is J Bo, and with Savrd gone, the 2 guys above gone next year, they can sign him, but still, seems like a tough scenario.

Yep but Savard has an NTC. Would he wave it go play in Florida? Or perhaps it could be a three way deal. Those are always fun.

For the long term, without a doubt I would take Backstrom. But for one year, I would definitely lean more towards Savard.

No way they are moving the team's number one center (signed at a good number) for cap reasons.

I think this is either bs or the bruins are targetting somebody.

Who knows. I for one would love to live in Florida. But Boston is the better team.

You should come over to the lw-beaker thread once in a while.

I guess calling you a dog would be redundant. If I ever start a cult, and you're interested, you can be in charge of recruitment.

I didn't mean to stop the Savard trade discussions, just felt like saying that Erika is pretty darn cool is all. She gets a lot of flank, I find her pretty darn cool.

Cool enough to stop in the lw-beaker thread and say hey once in a while.

Carry on with the Savard talk boys.

I still think this is all bs (especially for cap reasons, makes no sense).

Agreed. This whole Savard discussion makes no sense.

They have Savard for one more season.

Next season they need to get Kessel and Krejci locked up. That's it.

Next year they'll also be likely saying goodbye to Manny Fernandez, as Rask should be ready to play back-up then. Thomas might demand a raise, or it might be Manny staying and taking a cut. Either way, there is money to be saved.

This makes no sense to me at all, unless the team they are dealing with has a strong center with potential who could slide into Savard's position with maybe only 10 points lost, and Boston can get something else in return. Again, doubtful.

Then again, this is the same GM who traded Joe Thornton. You never know.

I may be mistaken but was it last year that special assitant to the owner Harry Sinden say in an interview that Marc Savard was not his favourite player ... maybe the owner has the same pov. If he were traded and it was a real BlockBLuster kind of deal that most only see on video games ..... i might have to guess the Chicago Blackhawks with maybe someone like Manny Fernadez going with Savard for Nikolai Khabibulin some of there very young talented D.

I thought Chi Chi was GM at the time. My bad. it was Mike O'Connell. I was really thinking of Jeremy Jacobs.
