Sekera with a goal. With a second to go. A little late for the come back.

I certainly won't hate on you for what appears to be some unwarranted optimism.

I want Gerbe and Weber on the squad ASAP.

Maybe he's going to score a natural hattrick in the 3rd...who knows with this guy.
Surprise surprise. "The team fell behind early, Vanek must have sucked!"

And no, I didn't see the game, and no, I don't feel confident in talking about ANY players game. And you shouldn't either :joshjull:

I'm sold on Weber needing to be in the lineup. Paetsch or Peters need to be moved or waived to Portland.

Gerbe on the otherhand I don't want to rush. Let him pile up the points in the AHL for a while and get a taste of pro hockey.

i'd put weber in front of patches as well, but in the 7th spot. so for now, keep him growing in portland until hank hurts himself avoiding contact. i give him until middle of november.

it's too bad too, bc i'm a tallinder fan.

True but I think I can still stand by my assessment that tonight's lineup is not very tough or physical

If only Vanek would stop vanishing.
And Roy would stop diving.
And Paetsch would stop sucking.
And Tallinder would stop hiding.
And Stafford would stop taking penalties.
And Numminen would stop being old.
And Gerbe would stop being 4'2.
And Kaleta would stop turtling.
And Miller would stop letting in 500 softies.

This team wouldn't be the worst team in the league!11!11!!!

I'd like to point out that Gerbe makes this team tougher despite his small stature.

The kid's competitiveness isn't rivaled by many. He battles, similar to Roy.

Oh please. That's like saying Roy or Briere made this team tougher.

At some point you need to have actual strength and size to be tougher. Gerbe, as tenacious as he is, does not add "toughness" to this team.

Competitiveness, passion, intensity, balls, mental fortitude...all are brands of toughness.

Not really. At some point you have to have the frame to not be pushed off the puck and to knock other people off of the puck to be considered "tough". Gerbe (nor any of the other players I mentioned, and you know I like Briere) doesn't have that.

What exactly is the point of this?

Pointing out how the team is soft without Goose, Rivet, Mair, Kaleta and Weber is hardly panicking nor is it incorrect.

It shows how important those guys are going to be and why.

If you are insinuating that having a big frame is a prerequisite for being tough, good for you. I completely disagree.

Your mythical definitions won't convince me otherwise.

The offense will have the same problems, because it's composed of exactly the same players. Locking up the core guys was huge, but it's a lot to expect 5 months of maturity to fix all of the problems with no other changes.

They really need to look into packaging some combination of Max, CMac, Tallinder, etc. to bring in a guy who hopefully brings some of the mental toughness and consistency that Drury and Grier brought, and also some size.

I agree. Where was all the size that carried the 05-06' team to within a game of the finals?

Their work ethic and tenacity carried them.

That's not what he's saying and you know it. Gerbe can be the kind of tough you want all he wants, but it's not going to stop him from getting pushed around and off the puck, like a bunch of our other forwards, which is what he is claiming. Enough.

Grier, McKee....Dumont was bigger than most of our forwards, although he didn't apply it enough.

Where was the toughness in 06-07? Oh wait, despite overwhelming skill, that's why we lost in the CF.
