Three more cuts

Ben Maxwell, Matt D'Agostini, Greg Stewart.

MPac and Weber still in play.

It was a last chance for two of those three, clearly.

D'Agostini's ice time was enough to hint where he was headed.

I think this is a clear sign that Weber is impressing people though. He should, by rights, have gone too.

I strongly suspect he's staying solely because Hammer is hurt, but I expect him to be on the opening day roster, if not the opening night line-up if Hammer isn't ready.

Then it would be to Hamilton.

Current line-up:

Andrei Kostitsyn -- Tomas Plekanec -- Alex Kovalev
Christopher Higgins -- Saku Koivu -- Alex Tanguay
Guillaume Latendresse -- Robert Lang -- Sergei Kostitsyn
Steve Begin -- Kyle Chipchura -- Georges Laraque
Max Pacioretty -- Maxim Lapierre -- Tom Kostopoulos

Andrei Markov -- Mike Komisarek
Roman Hamrlik -- Ryan O'Byrne
Josh Gorges -- Francis Bouillon
Yannick Weber -- Patrice Brisebois

Price
Halak
Denis

Wild Card: Mathieu Dandenault
(Cut, just hurt)
Mathieu Carle (injured)
Alex Henry (injured)

Patches is trying to prove he should stick. A long shot, but getting less long with each game he plays. Kosto, Laps, Begin and Chips are fighting for a spot on the 4th line. Weber is trying to prove he should be on the team. Dandenault is trying to beat out either Brisebois/Weber or one of the 4th liners I mentioned above.

My prediction, assuming Laraque and Hammer get better before the start, the final cuts are: Weber, Patches, Dandenault. Lapierre and Kosto are the extra forwards. If Laraque isn't healthy, I bet Patches may start the year in the NHL just to see what he can do, but they won't risk waivers for someone else to test this. As mentioned before, Weber may get a short run if Hammer is out.

Or they're both cut no matter what and Dandenault stays.

I wonder why they didn't give Maxwell another game.

I think they want to keep him close to the goalie coach for a while.

chips and max are fighting for a spot and both may get it. They are both ready, well max is very very close. Chips is ready and will play in Montreal. For max to make it one of Begin, kostopolous, dandeneault may need to go.

My prediction;

Patches, Chip and Weber all stay for opening day. Weber, mostly because I doubt Hammer is ready.

I wish we could just dump Dandy. I don't get all the love for him. Kost can go also. And keep Begin as a backup plan B kind of thing.

Didn't you guys hear Pierre Macguire during the commentary of the Red Wings game last night? Max Pacioretty is the REAL DEAL, BOB! This guy is NHL ready!

I guess he wrote the book on training camp too

While kind of true, I think it is also kind of off.

Hammer, Laraque and Dandenault are the keys here.

If the first two cannot play on day one, then there is a temporary spot for both kids. However, Dandenault's value is that he is two possible subs for one roster spot. He might hold down the fort on the bench while guys like Kosto and Brisebois replace the injured guys.

It's really a question of their health and the team's long term direction on Dandenault.

For what it's worth, the guys on CKAC, Pedneault, Bergeron, etc... were saying the same thing today.

Honestly, I'd rather keep Kostopoulos than Begin...I think that Kosto brings less energy than Begin but he has more talent, he was very good during the playoffs and he has a better chance of staying healthy during the season. But yeah, at this point, no reason of keeping Dandy.

Heretic. How dare you wish for a young, high potential forward to play in an under league. Are you a MaxiPad hater? I bet you're also a communist. Get out of this free nation, you piece of ****!

The only way I can see Max being on the opening night squad is if people are hurt. Dandenault needs to be cut, and one of Begin/Kostopoulos traded. We are absolutely loaded at wing, especially with Pacioretty on the verge...

I think Chips has his spot. A line with he, Laps, and Laraque, and one of Begin and Kostopoulos behind them, our 4th line would be deep and solid...

I know it would be a young line, but a line of Pacioretty-Chipchura-Lapierre come playoff time would be nasty...
