I was laughing during the last game when they were interviewing Patrice Brisebois and he started rambling about his racing career.... they spent 90% of their time on his racing plans and didn't even ask about the game.
The CJAD broadcasts are shoddy. I'm a big fan of radio hockey, having grown up listening to Curt Keilback on CJOB Winnipeg, and there just aren't many good radio broadcasts out there.
The Vancouver guys do a decent job. Who would Team990 put on the air for PBP ?
Melnick said a few weeks ago that when the rights were up for renewal a few years ago, the Team 990 bid on them and the Habs were shocked that they suddenly had stations fighting over them. I am sure they'll bid the next time.
I used to love the Expos on radio, that's a sport that fits the medium better. We had some great baseball announcers here. Hockey is a different story. I can't understand a word Murray Wilson says.

Elliott Price, Mercedes-Benz Expos baseball, on the team 990.

Elliot Price is doing the Montreal Jr games with Shaun Starr. I heard some of one broadcast and Price was ok, he's done hockey in the past and he sounded a bit rusty, but he's a pro. Starr, well it's not fair to judge an anlyst in his 1st week. They've been devloping a lot of young guys on the station, so if they had the rights, they could put a team together.
Does anybody like anything anymore? All ya hear is TSN sucks for habs games, CBC sucks for habs games, RDS sucks for habs games, ckac sucks for habs games, cjad sucks for habs games...

actually, the consensus is CKAC is really really good for hockey games.
Back on point, no, the Team 990 is not a viable option for the Habs. Price, and a platoon of Shaun Starr and Mo Kahn just wouldn't cut it. The Team is something to listen to if you want a good laugh at how anyone can get on the radio these days and a minute or two of audio clips of post-game interviews, not an NHL radio boradcast.
I really don't see what's so bad about them. Moffat is tolerable, and Wilson has some interesting anecdotes every once in a while. He's also well connected and knows about transactions before they happen, and tends to dismiss rumours.

Patrice wants to go into racing cause he hasn't had enough people blow by him with speed over his NHL career, and he would miss it if he retires.
