Phoenix gets Christoph Schubert who's a good young player (one of the best hitters in the league) who'll add some size and physicality to their defense this year and in the future. He can also line up as a winger on defense.
They also get a solid young prospect who likely won't get a chance in Ottawa anytime soon because of the large amount of centermen in our system.
Ottawa gets a good veteran player who could play on one of our top 2 lines and on the PP (likely wouldn't get that chance in Phoenix) as well as a AHL defenseman to bolster Bingo.

I think it's a great proposal. Very well thought out, and quite fair in terms of value. A week or two ago, I'd have been all over it. I was hoping the Coyotes would find a defensively responsible, physical blueliner for their bottom pair. I was quite willing to dangle Reinprecht to get one, and was also hoping for a defensively responsible fourth line center to take Reinprecht's place. I was hoping for more veteren type players, but would most likely have been pretty sold on this proposal, anyway.
There's one problem, though. The Coyotes seem to have think they've already found that defenseman that I coveted. Only he's come from within our own system. Jonas Ahnelov, from all accounts, is playing the exact role I was looking for. His stepping up, so far, looks like it will eliminate my percieved need to deal for that type of defenseman. Which is a good thing because our team is so young, that a solid veteren like Reinprecht is a valuable piece. His experience, versatility, and leadership should be a big help.
That said, the trade is still very tempting. If a little ways into the season, our defense looks like it could really use something different, I'd definitely take another look at this deal.
