How to make a good sticky roll

i tried to search this site to see if anyone knew how to make a good sticky roll. i used to use one a buddy made years back but now he's moved elsewhere. i don't like the "grip" stick manufacturers use because they always peel and, strange as i am, i only like grip in some parts, not all of the stick.

so i ask, does anybody know how to make a good sticky roll that lasts or know of an alternative?

Take a piece of hockey stick about 18 inches long and wrap a piece of tape around it near one end. Without tearing the tape flip it over so it is sticky side out and start wrapping. Wrap it up and down about half the shaft and do so until it is to your liking.

When it loses its grippiness, just wrap more tape around it sticky side out.

that's it eh? i always thought there was something poured on it (lighter fluid?) so that it makes it easier to get the adhesive onto the stick. anyways, thanks for the help! i'll give it a try.

They also make tape that's sticky on both sides- friction tape I think, that could be used.

Or. If you have a like a broken stick. cut it down to 2 ft or whatever. Wrap it sticky side out with black tape or whatever, and (this will sound REALLY BAD) rub it along your HOCKEY stick shaft and it should give it some grip.
