I really liked what Johnson brought to the rookie games. He was also just like that in practice on Sunday. He is small, but he is quick and you can just tell he wants it. I hope to see more of this kid someday. (The best drill was when Hanzal was paired with Johnson, tallest guy with the shortest guy, classic)

What Lessard wasn't sent packing after the scrimage fight yesterday? Long has promised, but must bulk up and mature (body wise).

They're probably waiting for a few more AHL guys to get cut before sending anybody down to SA.

Just wondering.

Lessard has to go through Regular Season Waivers to be assigned to the AHL. That can't happen until 12 days before the season officially starts, which would be Sep 27th.

Makes sense. He's a project player and could use some big minutes against players more on his level right now.

Stone will be assigned after tonight's game. The game is in cowtown which is where he currently plays junior with the Hitmen.

I was somewhat surprised to see Kolarik go already, but I think for some reason they are being very cautious with both Porter & Kolarik, and are going to let their games mature slowly.

Hopefully he sticks there. I am still thinking Tordjman to Sundogs. He has just sucked so far. There are no other words that come to mind for his play/practices. G just outshined him.

I'm surprised that they didn't give him any game time to show what he's got, but lets face it, he's not going to unseat Bryzgalov from the starter position. The best place in the organization for Gistedt right now is to be the starter for San Antonio, or at least fight it out for the position. I'm surprised that Tordjman has stayed around longer in camp that Gistedt has however. They are going to give Montoya a good long look to see if he's capable to take over the backup role.

Most of the other guys that have stuck this long in camp are there just to balance out the practices and to get an extra glimpse before going back to the AHL. I don't expect guys like Hoggan, Keefe, or Stephenson to have a real shot at making the team.

30 players left (and the possibility of Hanzal starting the season on IR)

Colin Long has streaked out of the gate.. he's had 5 goals and 8 pts in 4 games to start the WHL season.

Wow. Just wow.

I know I was impressed with what I heard about him in camp, but not that impressed. I hope that is a case of him raising his game to the level of the NHL players he worked with in camp and not just a fluke start to his season.

He put up 100 points last year and narrowly missed the scoring title.

We know he can produce offense - the question is whether he can round out his game and continue to produce at successive levels of competition.

M Brodeur's Cape Breton team is playing very well and Staal's Sudbury team has started strong. Its always nice for the players to be involved with team success as well as putting up gawdy numbers.

I saw Long play last night - there was good and bad to report.

The good - he definitely has excellent vision and can make things happen on the PP. He was wearing an A so the coaching staff must see him as one of the leaders on the team.

The bad - the team put a lot of shots on net and had their chances but ended up on the wrong end of a 7-3 score. Long ended up pointless and -2.

The Rockets got to break in their new team bus with a road trip 3 game weekend after playing at home Wednesday. 4 games in 5 nights has to be a grind.
