Lineups posted are rough...

I stole the Wings lineup from their board. Hossa has a sore groin, so who knows if he plays. Same with a few Leafs.

Either way... Hold on tight, Leaf fans.

I say we panic now and go backwards GDT lol...

On second thought, we should probably just pack that away for this season, not likely to be much call for it.

Yeah, good call.

The backwards GDT is retired until the Leafs can compete again in the NHL.

Tick tock...

Ditto

We did it last year why not a second time?

Maybe they will have a little stanley cup hangover and we can crush them 6-0

I'll give it the Official bWo Honourable Discharge Ceremony.

Rest soundly, sweet backwards GDT. May we call upon you for service soon.

Steen - Antropov - Blake

Hagman - Grabovski - Tlusty

Steen
- Stajan - Ponikarovsky

Moore - Devereaux - Mayers
Hmmm?

Personally I'd like to see...

Poni-Antro-Blake
Hagman-Grabs-Tlusty
Steen-Stajan-White
Mayers-Moore-Mitchell

I didn't get to see White's audition at forward but from what I hear it would be nice to have another look.

Regarding Detroit, I can't believe the Wings were not only were able to aquire a player of Ville Leino's ability in the offseason but the fact that there's a good chance that he'll begin the season in the minors...is ridiculous.

He would be a top 6 forward for 3/4's of the teams in the NHL. Combine that with the Hossa and Stuart signings....just unfair. Maybe karma will come back and bite them but so far, everything's breaking in their favor.

It wouldn't make a shred of difference. Any NHL team can beat any other team on any given night, even the piss poor Philly team a couple of years ago had some wins against elite opponents.

It really makes you wonder what the scouts on other teams are doing.

Much of it has to do with Detroit being a quality organization committed to winning and succeeding.
If the Leafs can actually transform their image from the current mess to one that shows an equally strong commitment and maintain it, they may enjoy the same luxury in 10 years or so.

Fixed.

Still, it's just temporary until we get the official word.

This is going to be the Leafs' toughest game of the entire season, and it's only the first game! We're up against the Stanley Cup Champions who will come out flying after seeing their banner being raised to the rafters.

I hope Toskala is ready..

I'm pretty sure the lineup is going to be:

Poni-Antropov-Blake
Hagman-Grabovski-Tlusty
Steen-Stajan-White
Mayers-Moore-Devereaux

Schenn-Kaberle
Kubina-Colaiocovo
Frogren-Stralman

With Van Ryn filling in on the D in case Kubina doesn't play.

Please tell me that Mitchell will get the nod over Devs...

Don't get me wrong, I like Devereaux as a fourth liner but Mitchell has some potential..

I agree, but I just don't see where Mitchell fits as I thought Wilson said he'd only play center. He could be there in Moore's spot, or maybe Moore shifts to the wing. I'm not sure.

For a crappy team, we sure have a lot of NHL-capable players. Only a few good ones though.

I would like to think that if Moore isn't going, then Mitchell is in.

Either that, or Mitchell takes White's spot and plays the wing.

Either way, I don't think White should be a Leaf much longer.

Let's hope that the theory that teams come out flat after long pre-game ceremonies holds true. Hopefully we can jump on him early with our speed (did I just say that? I never thought I'd mention "speed" and "Leafs" in the same sentence lol)
