I think two possibilities would be;

Tanguay - Plekanec - Kovalev
Higgins - Koivu - Kostitsyn
Kostitsyn - Lang - Lats

or

Kostitsyn - Plekanec - Kovalev
Higgins - Koivu - Latendresse
S.Kost - Lang - Tanguay

Alot of hype going into this season, and the Habs usually don't do to well in those moments.Their best hockey comes when no one expects them too like last year,1993..

''While the world waits breathlessly for Mats Sundin's decision, the Leafs go into this season with Mikhail Grabovski penciled in as their number one centre''

It's pretty simple. Who has more question marks? Who improved in the off season? Who got worse? Who addressed the most needs?

When it comes to the East, Montreal addressed the most needs and improved with acquisitions. Our question marks are all placed on the reason we made 1st: Can our youngsters get better and can Kovalev repeat? Even if they don't "improve", we're still 1st in the East with Pittsburgh likely getting weaker on the wings and now having to rely on Danny Sabourin if Fleury coughs.

So yeah, its safe to say Montreal would be 1st in the East and Top 5 in the NHL. Unless Kovalev has a crap year and our younsters all do worse I don't see how we're gonna be worse than a Top 5 NHL team.

Would you be kind enough to give us an example, because i have no idea when the last time we were hyped to finish at the top and didn't.

NJD + NYR should be higher imo. WOW and the blues at 30th? That's very laughable.

Isnt that the truth some teams will be expected to fight for a playoff spot but miss, and all the pieces gel(like Mon)and they are solid, people forgot the played over their heads the season before, till they crashed in the 2nd half(jan or Feb)

Some teams were great the year before or made a run to the cup before the lockout nad will go far(Calgary--great pieces but not the same solid defence of their great run.

Some teams have great goal scoring potential, but lack on(defence-not scoring) defence, may make the playoffs, but how far can they go(Edm).

Some teams had huge injuries last year to key players or sections and are written off, because they lacked offence last year(Van).

Some teams should be written off for a variety of reasons.but keep making it (Nash)

Whos going to be the surprises, the yearly favorites that lose in the first two rounds.

Thats why we love hockey, its full of surprises, great goals good hits, and rabid fans

Wouldn't it be fun to see at the end of each season either:

Stanley Cup Champs versus Calder Cup Champs
Last Place NHL team versus Last Place AHL team
Last Place NHL team versus Calder Cup Champs/First Place AHL Team
Stanley Cup Champs versus Last Place AHL team, etc

So Toronto versus Calder cup champs or First place AHL team, and see who wins

ahahahha and do like in the world juniors and relegate the leafs to the aHL ahahahha

Why? They weren't any good last season, their best players are getting older, they lost one of the better defensive centers in the league during the off season and their young star defender just injured himself while playing golf, I'm not saying they'll definitely be last, but it could happen..
