Just seems weird, Briatore is a well known playboy and as far as I remember in terms of night life Montreal has always been second only to Monaco.. Oh well, he's very opinionated, wouldn't be surprised if he actually said that.
with no other NA grand prix, the Montreal one became very expensive because teams had to travel a huge distance and back in essentially two weeks. + the American Grand Prix market is regulated (no smoking ads etc..) + Middle east and Asian countrys are paying big money to get their GPs..

GP weekend in Montreal is like Christmas, but with hot attractive scantilly clad women everywhere.. parties all around.. rich affluent people walking the streets. Martinis and energy drinks on every street corner. Concerts and car shows..
I'm completely shocked... I follow F1 since the day i was born... Went to every Grand Prix since 1996, I feel a mix of sadness and angryness. This only confirms the ****** dou*** that is Bernie cares more about money than the Fans... F1 is not a part of my life anymore.

It`s funny cause i was telling my dad during that night gp last week that i couldn` t believe we had a gp in montreal with such an outdated race track ofc most of you guys will overlook that point but the city didnt to much to at least compete with these new candidates that are popping out around the world.

There's probably a clause for the GP to be dropped one year.
A lot of GPs come and go, some of the least attractive (money-wise and other aspects) venues now are doing the musical chair. The Montreal GP might be back for 2010 or 2011. I've been expecting this for 2-3 years now, it isn't surprising. They'll renovate, and get it back until Bernie goes crazy again and wants to put a GP in some place that'll make him more money. Luckily for Bernie and the stockholders (and many other loathful people on this planet), greed doesn't kill (at least, not the person being greedy).
That sucks. F1 had people around the world paying attention to Montreal. I always wanted to go to the event but could never make it. Hopefully this is just a temporary thing and Montreal will get the race back.
The fact that Formula 1, a sport which I love and have followed for a majority of my life, attempts to market itself as a "World Championship", yet does everything it can to abandon, rather than enrich, a market such as North American shows me a complete apathy of the upper management towards everything but money. I am a university student, but I was finally saving money in hopes that, for the first time, I would be able to see F1 live this June. I had plans with a friend of mine to stay at McGill with a relative for the week, then move to the downtown core for race weekend. We were planning to infuse tons of cash into both the Montreal market, and the F1 coffers. And now this complete ********.
This sport continues to do everything it can to alienate its dedicated North American fanbase. No NA venues on the calender. No NA drivers on the grid. And I believe TSN holds an option on the TV rights next year, which they are unlikely to renew after this debacle. Looks like the FIA is determined to stick both their middle fingers up the proverbial rears of the North American racing fan.

What he says + the city will lose a TON of money, 75 millions Tremblay said. It sucks. GP week end was my favorite time of the year here in Montreal. At least, I've attended the GP a few time, so I know what F1 racing is live.

Yes, other issues like pissing away our tax dollars on having construction done wrong repeatedly. Yay I can't wait to piss away almost half my income so the roads they pave will look like **** 6 months later, YAY!!!!
