The Philadelphia Flyers will play one last final game in their former home, the Wachovia Spectrum, when they meet their American Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms, on Tuesday, October 7 at 7:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to come early and celebrate the Spectrum at a free block party featuring live entertainment, interactive games and more beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The game will be preceded by a special on-ice ceremony featuring a memorable hoisting of the Stanley Cup banner by 21 members of the Flyers Stanley Cup winning teams (1973-74 and 1974-75). The jerseys worn by the Stanley Cup champions during the pre-game ceremony will be autographed and auctioned off during the game.

“There’s no one else we’d rather ‘Celebrate the Spectrum’ with than our fans,” said Flyers Senior Vice President of Business Operations Shawn Tilger. “We want to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to see the Flyers in the Spectrum one last time and that their experience is as memorable as possible.”

And the first cuts happened yesterday. The Flyers sent a bunch of guys to the Phantoms, their AHL affiliate, and took 32 players on the road to Ottawa yesterday afternoon. Of the young players who made enough of an impression to get another NHL look, few have a realistic chance of cracking the Flyers' deep roster, but all have made an impression, including forwards Jon Kalinski, Andreas Nodl, Matthew Clackson and defenseman Luca Sbisa.

The Flyers announced Monday that they sent three players down to the Phantoms - goaltender Scott Munroe, winger Andreas Nodl and defenseman Danny Syvret. Syvret appeared to have an inside shot at filling in for either Randy Jones or Ryan Parent if either one was still hampered by injury and wouldn't be ready to play Saturday.

Spectrum will close, memories will linger

By CHUCK GORMLEY -- Courier-Post Staff

Tonight, in the building they turned into their own house of horrors, the 1974 and 1975 Flyers will walk together one last time on the Spectrum ice. Tonight's 7:30 preseason finale against the Phantoms -- the Flyers' final appearance at the Spectrum before it is demolished next summer -- will be preceded by an on-ice ceremony in which 21 members of the Flyers' two Stanley Cup teams will hoist a commemorative banner. Afterward, as they sit in Ed Snider's luxury box, stories of their accomplishments will flow as freely as the champagne they drank from the Stanley Cup more than 30 years ago.

Stories like the game at the Spectrum on Jan. 6, 1972, when a fan precipitated a brawl with the St. Louis Blues that ended up in the stands. It all started when a fan emptied a beer onto the already irate Blues coach Al Arbour while he was arguing a call with a referee. Blues enforcer Bob Plager was so incensed, he climbed into the stands to find the perpetrator. Several teammates followed him, swinging their sticks at fans until police broke up the melee.
Arbour had his shirt torn during the ruckus and needed 10 stitches to close a cut on his head. He finished the game wearing a sportcoat, undershirt and tie.
After the game, Arbour and three players were charged with disorderly conduct and assault and battery of policemen trying to break up the melee.

10 Spectrum moments to remember
http://www.philly.com/philly/hp/spor..._remember.html
Ground was broken in June 1966 for what is now known as the Wachovia Spectrum, and 16 months and $7 million later, the arena that would host so many memorable events was completed. It was announced yesterday that the cozy Spectrum will be torn down following the 2008-09 indoor seasons. So here's a look back at the 10 most memorable Spectrum moments . . . in one person's eyes, of course:

Quote:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wachovia_Spectrum[/center]
The Wachovia Spectrum (formerly known as the Spectrum (1967–1994), CoreStates Spectrum (1994–1998) and First Union Spectrum (1998–2003) is an indoor arena located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Completed in 1967, it seats 18,136 for basketball and 17,380 for ice hockey, Arena football, indoor soccer, and indoor lacrosse. The building will be closed and demolished following the 2008-2009 hockey and soccer seasons to make way for a new hotel in conjunction with the Philly Live! complex. Owners Comcast-Spectacor plan to build a 10,000 to 12,000 seat arena in the Philadelphia area to replace the Spectrum.[1]

He is listed above on the Flyers' training camp roster. The rosters are taken from both teams' websites. Once the official rosters are submitted for the regular season, my guess is that is when it will be updated. Lineups I used from last game, since I haven't seen any update for this game yet.

I had tickets to this game, but I won't be able to make it. Sending the GF to get me stuff though. This should be something they do every year before the season starts.

It wouldn't be a shock. This game will be played like an all-star game. They're not going to go out there and kill each other and the game will probably end 10-5
