Rangers Tickets Price Collapse?!?

It seems like ticket prices have just collapsed, possibly because of the current financial crisis.

Looking on AdmitOne and StubHub there are multiple great seats for sale significantly below face value.

Anyone else notice this? Ideas on when they will go back up?

which games? I saw a bunch of premiums for Friday night games. A friend of mine sold a bunch of games at a premium on EBay. If you can get 'em cheap, do it quickly because they may go, and they may go up.

Hope these prices are still around two weeks from now when I get paid. I'd love to catch a game against Dallas.

I doubt that game would get expensive. It's only what 13 days away. You've got plenty of time.

Why?

Probably since Bathgate/Howell were in another time than Graves. And Graves is extremely well known to the younger people 35and under.

I wouldn't say that those prices are below face from what I've seen. Below ticketmaster, yes, but below face, not one bit.

This is one of the only somewhat-good things about the crumbling economy. The prices across the board on StubHub were ridiculous and how some people can justify charging the prices they do for regular season games is ludicrous. They still aren't exactly being given away, but they are better than they were in previous years.

Levitate...

it definitely could be a problem, although many of the tickets were sold by the teams prior to the crisis. True there are a lot of game day tickets, etc., that may go unsold, but the bulk of their revenues come from subscriptions, luxury suites, etc. that were already paid for. Next season could be a disaster. What may also hurt the cap is the recent strengthening of the USD compared to the Candian dollar, which, I believe, contributed a fair amount to the increase in the cap. It's not inconceivable that it does down next season, and down even more the season after, both of which will be interesting scenarios.

As of now the 10 cent difference in the CAD won't make a huge difference. In the past the 1.40CAD/1USD and even worse numbers like 1.60/USD is what killed the Canadian franchises. If it stays around where it is now, there won't be a huge difference. Of course losing 10 cents over $100 million nets you a $10 million loss, but it's still not as bad as it once was. However, with the USD getting stronger everyday (A few months ago the Euro was around 1.70, today it's 1.36), there could be bigger effects down the road as you pointed to.

Probably true. No one really knows who they are under 35, compared to the numerous who could name a Yankee legend. If we won cups with them, they would be better known.
