The one that got away

S_O_T_I tells us that the Rangers were thrilled with their picks, and got pretty much everyone they really wanted and realistically expected to have a shot at. I'm wondering who, if anyone, got away from them. I suspect that we had defensemen ranked somewhere high in this draft, but that either those defensemen were never quite the highest rated available or they were drafted before we could get to them. I'm thinking about Mike Green and Grant Lewis. Green was picked a few spots before our #36/37 picks, and we ended up trading one of those picks. Grant Lewis was picked a few slots before Dane Byers. I'm thinking we perhaps wanted those guys but never really had the opportunity to pick them.

I'm satisfied with what we have, for sure, but I would love to be a fly on the wall (like S_O_T_I) and know who they really wanted and couldn't get.

You give me too much credit. I'm not even close to being a fly on the wall, I mearly get to speak to people who are. I don't know their rankings so I can't help.

info is still great, keep it up

I agree with defense HRG, it had to have been defense considering it's very unlikely the Rangers had forwards ranked 1-100+ (till we took that dman)
