Gainey to sign another UFA after July1st?

There are alot of player's that probably will not receive a qualifying offer July 1st. Do you think Gainey will go for any of these player's? (Besides Demitra)

If he doens't re-sign Kovy i can see him going for a another scoring winger, after that i don't see him signing many players if any cause then it would just be taking up roster spaces from young players ready to step in and he plans on having a few roster spaces available for some young guys.

You're right. He will want a star on the Koivu line and there's plenty of them who could be available: Kovalev, Demitra, Murray, Palffy...But after taht, our depht is good enough to pass on the other available players...

Kovalev is #1 on his list, if we fail there he goes after Demitra because I think he can be had at 4 million and if not him he will seek a Murray or a Lappariere.

I think he would rather add skill to the top 2 lines instead of grit and checking to the 3rd and 4th lines.

Defense=no new acquisitions
Gainey is probably thinking that Souray and Brisebois were hurt and Komisarek and Bouillon will step up their game and Markov has reached another level, so it looks like he isn't going to touch the D, other than maybe to add Hainsey as a depth guy, unless he wins a job.

Forwards=
Kovalev if we can get him for a fair price (unlikely). If not, I don't see anyone else out there that gives size and skill for a fair price.

Our lines have enough speed that we could take on Laperriere as well to add some grit.

Langdon again.

I hope Mr.Gainey will sign Kovalev...

If he refuses, i would love to see Mark Recchi Back in Montreal

He was my favorite player back in the 90's

I can see him getting someone for Koivu to play with, you have to admit that besides Kovalev, Koivu has nobody good to pass to on the other side of the wing.

Anyway, I would love to see Laperriere on the team, he's am impact player, him and begin = but saying that, do we really have room for him?

Dackell and Juneau are gone. Langdon and Dowd will likely sign elsewhere. Keep in mind that Laperriere plays on wing last season for LA as Belanger was the centerman. Laperriere - Begin - enforcer is a great fourth line.

Lappy makes a lot of sense. I'd like to see him here. Wardo Begin Lappy would make a nice 4th line.

I think the first priority this year is to sign a top 6 forward and the second priority is to sign a 3rd or 4th gritty line player my choices for the top 6 forward are :

n#1 Alexei Kovalev ,he is big and has a lot of skills a good elite winger and can play well with Koivu.

N#2 Ziggy Palffy, a world-class sniper with elite puck-handling and skating skills can be a very good top 6 forward too.

N#3 Glenn Murray, he has skills but he could also add some size to our team.

As for the 3rd line or 4th line gritty player Lappy would be my choice.
