He could. But I feel that later on in his career he has become better and better at drifting in front of the net, screening the goalie and putting rebounds in. He was involved quite a few times that way last year. I would keep him behind the net, cycling around, and then drifting to screen the goalie when the point man is about to take a shot.

So it's

LD Tanguay and Markov RD!!

Just heard 990 play some audio of Jarvis confirming it. Markov has a great shot and I'm sure Tanguay can pass just as well as Markov was (Markov cross ice to Kovalev, one timer, SCOOOOOOORRRREEESSS!).

Look for Tanguay to get plenty of points this season with Kovalev and Markov.

Tanguay showed great skills on the PP in D position. Sergei too. Brisebois could play there too but I think Tanguay and Sergei would be better.

You guys sure? I just read on corussport that it was

Unit 1

LD Markov RD Tanguay
LW Kovalev C Plekanec RW A.Kostitsyn

Unit 2

LD Hamrlik RD Brisebois
LW Lang C Koivu RW S.Kostitsyn

They were saying that the coaching staff was trying to change last years PP and have Kovalev on the opposite side of where he usually is, and they had Markov and Tanguay on LD and RD respectively

I don't understand why the Habs wouldn't play Latendresse on the PP. The "half court" game plays right to his strengths - protecting the puck along the boards, driving the net, using his quick shot. He's produced in his limited time on the PP. He is still somewhat of a liability at even strength. Lang is very good at evens, but did not produce on the PP last year. I just don't get it.

The play is going to go through the left this year instead of the right. It will offer more options, as Markov will be able to one-time from a Tanguay pass, or pass it to Kovalev with a great cross-ice pass.

I love it!

That's why in camp we saw AKost on the right and Kovy on the left on the PP... and they switched back... this PP is gonna be so unpredictable

Markov

as per RDS

Markov will play Right side on the powerplay. Alex Tanguay will play left. It will be weird to see Markov on the right side. But I think it's Great, we should have a very effective powerplay again this year.

I can't watch the feed because I'm at work right now but did they say why they're moving Markov to the right side?

So Tanguay is in charge of doing the cross-ice pass to Kovalev now and Markov will be the one to shoot from the point ?

I'm not sure if I like that. Markov is more comfortable as the passer and he's always looking for Kovalev or another defenseman to shoot the puck. We'll see!

Per RDS:

PP1

Kovy - Pleks - A Kost (yes, I think they switched him with Kovy)
Tanguay - Markov

PP2 (Higgy being injured)

Skost/Tender - Koivu - Lang
Hammer/Skost - Brisebois

Markov proved me last year at the ASG that he can be a great shooter. He can shoot the puck 95 mph+ and has a very good one-timer (he was the best one-timer shooter last year at the ASG skill competition)

So Kovalev is gonna play half-boards on the left side? He won't be in a good position to do one-timers then. I guess it means that AKost will be able to better demonstrate his "laser beam" one-timer

Or Philadelphia for that matter, like someone said in another thread, it will make our PP more unpredictable with Kovy and Akost on the wings and Tanguay and Markov at the point.

Imagine : Kovy walking in the slot and shooting it like he did in overtime against Boston last playoffs on the left side after a great cross-ice pass from Markov or Akost on the right side being ready for the one-timer from either Kovalev or Tanguay on a cross-ice pass.

Tanguay was just interviewed on TSN and he confirmed this.
