Supposedly he's been training in Denver.

Awesome. I get busy with stuff, a day and a half rolls by, I check back in from work and Sully is signed to a 3 yr deal.

Now I have to explain to others why I just said "**** Yeah" really loud...

That will be up to Murray.

I would not have him play the first game of the season, give that chance to one of the kids that was in camp (Moller). I would play him in the home opener though.

As a Sabre fan living out west (vegas), I watch plenty of Kings games, I was hoping their wouldn't be a holdout on Sully. Very nice signing. He is a good player for you guys. Best of luck in the west this season.

I see what Dean was going....he probably said O'Sullivan can't make more than Brown who has been here for 4-5 years and paid his dues.....

Brown and O'Sullivan are locked up....now lets just get Kopitar and Johnson.

have to state the obvious, GREAT signing. I think that this is one of the best contracts in the league, right up there with Browns'. Looks like Dean knows what he is doing, slowly building a dynasty. Really all you need is a good stable goalie and you will make the playoffs.

I usually check Kings info (Hammond/these boards) VERY regularly but had been away a day and a half and came back to find O'Sullivan signed. It was a very pleasnt surprise.

so i guess o'sullivan and his agent only wanted a 1 year deal.

Pat Morris, and Kings General Manager Dean Lombardi negotiated a new contract. Morris was seeking a one-year deal, while Lombardi refused to offer anything less than three.

how do some of you feel about that?

I think there are a few quotes from O'Sullivan in that article and the rest including the 1 year/three year thing was just a reprint of their other articles. La times has been saying the same thing all along.
if you listen to O'Sullivan on the La kings site, he discussed wanting to go the one year route partly because he thought it would get him back on the ice. The other issue we could speculate is that it would give him better bargaining power the following year, but no where does he state he did not want to be a King.
In the end it doesn't matter, because everyone seems happy. O'Sullivan is pleased and thinks the 3 year contract is good, he wants to be in La, and Dean made a good deal that will keep his player for 3 years. Its all great now, and i just can't wait for some hockey.

I thought we already discussed this. Dean did not want to pay O'Sullivan big money because he only had one good year. So O'Sullivan wanted to sign a 1 year deal to prove that the 2007-08 season was not a fluke and therefore justify the amount that O'Sullivan wanted on a long-term deal. I for one think that O'Sullivan was within his rights to ask for a one year deal because if the GM is going to pay for results and not potential then the player needs the opportunity to prove his worth.

But none of that matters right now. He is signed to a very reasonable 3 year deal. And today is the "official" start to the new season.......PLAY BALL.......or puck or whatever.

There were a few people on these boards guilty of this.

i read that and thought the same thing as well. i'm sure some of the players in the NHL have to get their fix at hfboards. i think i remember hearing somewhere here that hickey did indeed frequent these boards now and then. i would think if anything the younger generation and up and comers would be the ones more than likely to be involved in something like this.

I'm of the opinion that everything is water under the bridge and that Sully is a Kings for 3 more years at least. I'll be cheering for my fellow Irishman each time he touches the puck.

If only. Nobody short of Brodie or Roy, that's for sure. We still have the problem of getting our defense unit up to speed with our O.

It can easily be done though, next season through free agency and trades. In fact, a trade for a seasoned defensman could nicely bolster the club this season, Jaybo anyone? We've got prospects and picks...

Guess we'll see how thing play out...
