as i understand it, the veteran rule defines a veteran player as one who has played 260 games total in the following leagues...NHL, AHL & European Premier League. Any combination of those leagues' games add up to 260, makes him a veteran. perhaps someone can correct me if i'm wrong.
i believe you are correct. Combination of games played in NHL, AHL, IHL, and European Premier League.

Monarchs sign Leveille who played with Purcell at Maine, and Rheault and Johnston to PTA (professional tryout agreements).

Zatkoff is on his way to Ontario as well...

Rheault is a great guy and our newest NH guy on the scene. Glad to see him earn the PTO...

Oh man that's awesome. I was skating with Michel for a bit this summer...as well as Denis-Pepin, Jimmy Howard, and other various Maine alumni.

The print version of today's UL says that Brady Murray is a no-show for camp in Manchester - a big surprise to Hubie & the team. Reportedly going to be shipped to Europe. Allegedly the reason that Leveille was signed.

Dan Taylor has been assigned to Reading. So as of now, it's Quick and Bernier in Manchester. At best, they could go with an every-other-game rotation to insure that each guy gets at least one game a week. Pretty dumb move if they go with Bernier and Quick in Manchester for an extended period...

That sucks. If he's off to Europe, no chance he can get called up this year. Might as well trade him now.

Is Bernier fully healed yet? Maybe while he's not 100% Quick is the guy and once Bernier is healthy Taylor gets the call?

I'm wondering about the Bernier injury situation as well. With the Monarchs only playing on game this week (Saturday) maybe Quick is going to get the start and give Bernier and extra week???

I don't know if this has been posted or not, but Justin Azevedo has been signed for the year and Andrew Campbell is on a tryout agreement with Manchester. I'm curious how they'll do this season, particularly Campbell.

A couple of rule changes/experiments in the AHL this season:

Teams will be allowed to dress 18-skaters as opposed to 17 as in years past...

During the regular season, minor (2-min) penalties in overtime will be reduced to 1-min. Any carryover penalty time from regulati0on will be halved...

Some wording changes in the rule book as well...

Does that mean he's done as a King?

Not necessarily.

But I think it is (unfortunately) likely.

I think the writing was on the wall for Brady. He was one of the last guys sent back last season, but then he had the injury and came back later in the season but he missed some opportunities through call-ups to play at the NHL level. He ended up slipping in the depth chart quite a bit. I think Europe is a good option for him at this point...

I think it is similar to the Petiot situation. Both of those players had their windows of opportunity close because they got injured at the worst possible time (when they were just starting to make an impression). Unfortunately other players were there to jump in when they went on the IR. Just an unfortunate reality in sports.

Was this move because it is better for him or because he just didn't want to play in the AHL.

I'm confident that financially it's better for him to play in Europe. Additionally, Europe is likely where his career was ultimately headed anyway...

It's too bad because he looked good in the preseason. But with the sheer number of prospects the Kings have, he's definately been passed up.

i'm wondering if we'll see another Derek Armstrong in Brady one day... not necessarily in Los Angeles, but somewhere in the NHL.

That'd be awesome.

But as his size isn't going to change, I don't know that it will happen. But who knows.

I saw the scores for Manchester, and looks like they had a similar game to the Kings.
I noticed Lewis with 2 assists, and I guess Bud Holloway, Kidd with their first AHL goals ( i think). Just wondering how some of these guys looked.

Well, Campbell was released from his tryout. That didnt't take long, I guess it might be back to Juniors for him then? Possibly a contract with Ontario in his future? Any other options that I'm missing?
