I think Chicago is a dangerous team this year, but coming off 2 wins in Prague and with the Garden rocking tonight, I'm smelling a 5-2 win.

Ranger goals scored by Drury, Orr, Korpikoski, Zherdev, Gomez(en)

Chicago goals scored by Toews and Campbell(PP)

I can't wait to get back to the Garden. Second consecutive home opener, first as a season ticket holder. Watch out 307, here i come! LET'S GO RANGERS!!!!

I have a couple friends in Chicago, one of which who magically became quite the Blackhawks fan at the end of last year when they barely missed the playoffs. Hopefully the Rangers can take them down. They look to be very similar with quite the well balanced, speedy team. Should be a good one! Let's go Rangers!

Prucha sits tonight

http://rangers.lohudblogs.com/2008/1...nd-away-we-go/

Quote:
As for real news, Petr Prucha will indeed be a healthy scratch tonight alongside Patrick Rissmiller and Dan Fritsche, while Fred Sjostrom will play left wing with Blair Betts and Colton “Bobby” Orr.

Renney emphasized that this is still an “evaluation period,” and that he needed to get a look at different players, which might explains Sjostrom’s replacement of Prucha. The coach also noted that with the Rangers set to play seven games in 11 nights, there’s a good chance all of tonight’s scratches will get a look in the next couple of games.
Final lineup:

Markus Naslund (A) - Scott Gomez (A) - Chris Drury (C)
Aaron Voros - Brandon Dubinsky - Nikolai Zherdev
Nigel Dawes - Lauri Korpikoski - Ryan Callahan
Fredrik Sjostrom - Blair Betts - Colton Orr

Wade Redden - Michal Rozsival
Marc Staal - Paul Mara
Dimitri Kalinin - Dan Girardi

Henrik Lundqvist
Stephen Valiquette

*Dan Fritsche, Patrick Rissmiller & Petr Prucha sits.

I miss the Blarney Stone down the block.

A nice corned beef and cabbage dinner with a side of mac and cheese set up the drinking that ensued very well.

am i missing something. What exactly has Voros done to deserve to be on the second line. I think each of Frtische, Prucha, Dawes maybe even Sjostrom deserve it more and could handle it better.

I for one am interested in seeing what Voros can do on the 2nd. If it doesnt work out w/e move him down. Renney has done alot worse when it comes to convoluted line combos.

I'd like to see Fritsche play at some point as well.

Crap lineup.

Don't be surprised if we get burned tonight.

Voros, 4th line player AT BEST is on the second line.

Orr, is still in the lineup when the 4th line was supposed to be"more productive" this year.

And Fritsche is still scratched.

Terrible. I always defend Renney, but this is his glaring weakness. He is TERRIBLE at line management.

Mind boggling how the most OBVIOUS decisions are so hard for him to recognize.

Naslund - Gomez - Drury
Dawes - Dubinksy - Zherdev
Prucha - Korpikoski - Callahan
Fritsche - Betts - Sjostrom

Should be the line up most nights.

Want speed? Want production? Well Orr and Voros certainly are not gonna get it done.

How could Prucha or Dawes "deserve it more" or "handle it better" if they've already been given the job and failed to meet expectations"?

Sjostrom and Voros are now getting the shot that they earned in camp and preseason. Why are so many people bothered by that? Everyone on this list with exception of Voros put up more points than Prucha last year, but at least Voros brings a point from this season to the table. Where is the harm in auditioning replacements for players who currently bring nothing to the team but good intentions?

They didn't score 90 goals their first two games of the year. So what use are they.

Voros couldn't score playing w/ Gabo in Minnesota. he hasn't done anything really at all for us so far either. honestly its like I'm reliving the Marcel hossa experiment.

and in two games how is Dawes supposed to get chemistry. Y not try Prucha who has scored in the past (i am actually defending him here but that does not mean I want him on the team as i would rather trade him) Sjostrom has NEVER been given a chance to show his offensive skills. Fritsche has shown he can play and score some. Voros has done nothing. HIS ENTIRE CAREER. and yet we waste valuable minutes, on the second line. I HATE YOU RENNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Except put up the points that are expected of Dawes and Prucha. He found a way. That's ALL Renney is asking. This is the easiest job in hockey to win right now.

Renney's looking at his options, I feel that it's appropriate that he does. You don't like it, you can keep making excuses for players that seem oblivious to the fact that their place on the team is on the line here.

Just trade Prucha already

and i am a Prucha backer..........too much depth, stupid to have so much money and so many forwards sitting

let's do this already and add a 7th Dman so there is no more talk on this crap

get Fritsche in, ahead of Sjostrom too
