Keep in mind though, yesterday was only 1 game...but things definitely look promising.

Very interesting, I was expecting him to hammer out Ohlund/Sedin extensions before he got to this.

I'll go low and say $8M.

edit: thought the term was 3 years...so i'll go with $10M

This is great news, now Canucks won't have to worry about any RFA poaching.

That's ****ing awesome that Gillis got this done now as opposed to the end of this season.

Let's hope for good terms, but I think we'll be happy with what we see.

I don't think it can be very high. Edler hasn't really gotten the offensive output to score a contract like Bieksa. I'm gonna go $2.5 million per season. This is a GREAT time to lock the kid up for 4 years though.

I am officially ON the Gillis-wagon. This guy is saavy as all hell.

Does this contract take him to UFA eligibility? If it does, I'd suspect that the numbers are on the low side.

3-3.5 probably. That seems to be reasonable.

Wicked. I'll reserve judgement until I see the terms but I'm glad we got him locked up.

Anything below $14 mil for 4 years (3.5 per) is a good signing.

Edler took a few hard hits last night, think that rattled him into accepting a low-ball offer?

No way its 4.5... I don't think he's done enough to earn more than Salo/Ohlund/Mitchel

Huge lock-up for the Canucks. Look forward to seeing him in a Canucks uniform for the next 4 years.

I'm thinking similar range to the other guys...somewhere between $3mil and $3.75. Anything lower and I'm doing cartwheels.

I dunno if he can get that much unless they are paying on potential. He's still a bit of an offensive question mark, and doesn't have the proven track record like Bieksa, Ohlund or Salo. I think people will be surprised at the money. I still think $2.5 - $3 million per.
