i'm banging out of work early to drive down and watch this one. not sure why, atmosphere at every st louis game i've been too has been pretty bad, but it should still be fun.

so pumped for this, lets go preds!

2-1 to the good guys is my prediction.

edit: found this interesting, the Blues apparently have been using a 5 forward powerplay unit. Kariya and Stempniak being the pointmen. Could this lead to increased shorthanded chances, or make killing penalties more difficult? I really don't know, kinda curious though if anyone does know.

A divisional game to start the year! This could be nasty!

I guess the thinking is that Kariya has enough speed to track the guy down if he does get past him.

either way it could be interesting!

don't they know that Kariya rarely exerts that sort of effort?

Thought I'd pop in here and give my two cents. Kariya and Stempniak have been doing drills with the defensemen in order to better be able to stop any shorthanded chances against. During preseason, the five forward PP has been quite good and the PP strategy is completely different from last year's debacle.

Anyway, I hope it's a good game either way.

Thanks for the GDT. I've dropped the playoff avatar and signature in celebration of the new season. Good luck Preds. I won't predict a winner but I think Hornqvist gets (at least) his first nhl goal tonight.

In Pete Weber's season preview the other night, one of the STL Blues announcers basically made Berglund sound like he was genetically created in a lab from the parts of Gretzky, Lemieux, and Howe. And, he predicted that someone on the Blues is going to just obliterate Tootoo on the ice tonight. I can't remember which Blue has that mission.

Per the Preds preview, we can expect the Blues to begin their 2009 stanley cup run with something like a 12-0 demoralizing of Nashville, thus I am certainly looking forward to seeing the new and improved Blues.

I'll say 3-1 Blues, with an empty netter by Gordie Gretzmieux.

I think I am gonna end up becoming a Preds fan this season. I am a Canes bye heart, but living in Alabama the FSN I get is the one that covers the Preds. I must say I liked that pretty goal by Suter.

It's ok we can get them back, we just need to get back in there, and play hard. Nice goal by Suits too.

Should have been 2-0, instead it was 1-0 with the Blues going on the powerplay....Ugh.

I hoped with our powerhouse defensive corp we'd maybe outshoot some teams this year, or at least teams wouldn't always be well into the 30's in shots per game. First period Blues had ten shots to the Preds five. Same old, so far.

I'm a radio listener. Liking the new guy. He ain't Pete Weber but I feel like I can really follow the game. I keep waiting for a colorman to add some comments though.

I wouldnt blame the D. The forwards have been atrocious IMO. St.louis is flying around forechecking and we are standing around

I have no visual. Just know they've kept the pressure on and a couple times we've had trouble clearing the zone according to Callahan. Thanks for the info.

Ok, it's 5-2 but we've cut the shots on goal deficit I whined about to one! I'm looking on the bright side.

Penalties. Man. St. Louis makes us pay.

Let's go Preds. Have a huge third.
