Nikulin, Schubert, Gerber, 1st, 1st

For

Toskala, Steen

Steen can be a top 6 winger, or your number 3 centre behind spezza and fisher, Toskala is the legit number 1 guy you've missed since hasek left. Leafs may need to add something to this deal in the form of a pick, considering ottawa is dropping 3 prospects while taking on none.

Wow.... no. What an embarassing proposal. No one is going to take your junk for a budding superstar like Kopitar.

Learn to read.
He was asking what you could expect in return for Schubert, Nikulin and maybe a 1st. He wasnt specifically asking if thats enough for a top6 forward of #1 dman.

Hes asking us what we expect the return would be.

The question I have for you is when you read that back to yourself out loud do you really believe this could happen?

Change foligno with Lee or Karlsson, and I think we have a deal.

Toskala, Kaberle, and Ponikarovsky
for
2 1sts, Gerber, Vermette, Lee/Karlsson, Schubert, and Nikulin.

Note: This goes through, Fletch almost beats his own trade record

imo Ottawa would take this just for the goaltending upgrade (if salaries fit)

Schubert and one of Ottawa's first round picks

for

Lebda, Samuelsson and Dick "Hat trick" Axelsson.

Lebda gives the Senators a puck carrying defenseman which they need, Samuelsson who's steady, defensively responsible and can play the point on PP. He can be a top 6 forward on many teams, maybe not Ottawa though. Axelsson is projected to be a top 6 forward but is still a few years away. Detroit gets a physical presence in Schubert that they could use against Dallas and Anaheim to get through through the ealry rounds of the playoffs. What do you think...what would you change

He stated that the Sens were seeking a top pairing defender or top 6 forward. I was stating that the players being offered likely wouldn't land that type of player and more would be needed to do so. Take your own advice next time, thanks.

That is some cold hard bias right there.

It's an alright offer, switch Moreau to an AHL defenseman and take out OTT 1st and change EDM 2nd to a 3rd

Then switch Neil, to McAmmond and Schubert

McAmmond, Schubert and Nikulin for Smid, *AHL defenseman* and a 3rd!!!!!

I'd do this from an Ottawa point of a view in a second.

Wait, no, first I'd check on whether or not Moreau is healthy. If he is, then I'd do it in a second.

Ryder, Halak and a 2nd for Nikulin Schubert and a 2nd.
No wait i still don't think the Habs would do it.

Is it that he doesn't want to play in the AHL or that he is only willing to play in the AHL if it could lead to NHL ice time? Because he was willing to play there last season. But it's clear that this organization has no plans for him and IIRC, didn't he say in his blog that they pretty much told him that this season?

Next season: Spezza, Heatley, Fisher, Vermette, Kelly, Ruutu, Donovan, Winchester, Foligno, Bass and Schubert are all under contract. Alfie will either resign or have his option picked up. That's 12 players taking up 12 or 13 forward spots. Nikulin has no future in Ottawa. He would be better off in another organization or in the KHL. Why is this difficult to understand?

Come on, that was a lame excuse considering the physical test results for players who moved where all over the map. The fact is that this organization has moved toward filling out a roster almost entirely with gritty forecheckers. Unless they can score 50-100 points, there is no room for players like Nikulin on this team.

No, it's about size and toughness. If he wasn't a Size-Queen before the SCF's against Anaheim, he is now.
