This came out of nowhere. I know it was one of DL's goals, but I didn't even realize they were negotiating.

Best possible way to start a new season. Hopefully, Johnson's next.

Great news....can't wait to see the terms. Now we just have to lock Johnson up and we're set.

I wonder what the Lombardi haters are thinking right about now....

I'm expecting four or five years, at an average cap hit of $4.5 million per year, give or take.

That said, I part of me is hoping for a 12-year, $84 million deal

Frankly I am shocked..... It will be interesting to see the terms....because Kopitar's contract will set the precedent for the rest of the "core".

At the breakfast DL said they were talking to JMFJ and Kopitar. I figured Kopi would come first... I think with the economics of the country, and the league, you might see JJ taken care of quickly too.

This is fantastic news... DL is belting it out of the park.

Given that Anze is the center piece of the Kings, and his current performance to date, couple seasons played, etc., I am not that surprised about quicker resolution on a deal in his case. I would be more suprised if Johnson made a deal given i think it would be to his advantage to wait another year. Yet he is one of the builders, and you are right the current economic state of things might change things.

I just feel like the the Kings want cap certainty and the player will want $$$ certainty as we head into a worldwide deep recession (and possibly worse).

Lombardi and AEG are cheapskates and don't know what the hell they are doing. This can't possibly be true.
