Let’s be clear that there is probably no tangible explanation for Stephen Valiquette’s success against the Flyers in particular last season. This isn’t baseball, after all. But there is something to be said for a goalie having a comfort level against certain jerseys and teams. That’s why my guess is Renney goes with Valiquette in net.

I do agree with that, Fritsche is more defensive minded than does but on the other hand I like Dawes alot.............BUT the have to get some of these guys that have been sitting in

for crying out loud deal Prucha already

I think sather is working on dealing prucha and has been for a while, but he doesn't just want to trade him for nothing, i really wonder is prucha and rismiller can fetch back something of use or a decent pick, opening the door for shanny because i still think he will end up on this team at some point

Sam's update didn't seem like a confirmation of Vally playing, just his thoughts. Though the Flyers are certain to be pumped up for the season opener, I'm hoping we can take advantage of a thin defense and break out offensively with another big game from the Playstation line and make Lundqvist or Valiquette a moot point. Bring in Fritsche for Dawes and maybe Rissmiller for Sjostrom (extra faceoff help and just to get everyone into a game) and LGR!

Live from Philly: Vally, Rissmiller in, Dawes out

Glad Sjostrom slots up to the third line rather than Rissmiller.

Honestly Prucha-Korpedo-Cally looked much better than Dawes-Korpedo-Cally imo. Sjostrom keeps the third line's speed while Rissmiller (who is definitely slowest of the fringe players) won't impair the fourth line speedwise.

Anyone know the waiver status of Dawes? It pains me to say this, but he might need some AHL seasoning to get his confidence back. At the same time, if we can send him down without going through waivers it helps our roster situation immensely.

Big mistake to play Valiquette tonight. Play your backup in a 4-point game, only three games into the season, all of which were won by the #1..?

Idiotic.

Big loss tonight for the Rangers. Valiquette gets pulled after letting up 3 or 4 in the 1st, Rangers climb back to a 1-goal deficit, but lose by a goal.

4-3 Loss.

Todays game was my first loss in my NHL09 season. Somehow I lost 6-0. Let's hope we don't repeat that today.

Agree, I'm sure there will be a decent amount of booing at the arena. I hope she slips and her top falls off.

That would have to be some tumble for her to rip off a blazer.

...Or I wonder if they will have her in a jersey so she can seem more like 'the people'

Pissmiller on the 3rd line? I hope Sjostrom gets bumped up and he plays on the fourth. I know Vally was a stupid idea, but I think Hank is tired from all the travelling. Plus Vally could be starter for many teams in the NHL.

Oh you bet she'll be in a jersey. I bet her 3rd graders will get extra credit for watching her drop the puck too.

Shanahan sounds better than Pissmiller!

Fritsche sounds better than either.

Fritsche/Dawes-Korpikoski-Callahan
Sjostrom/Prucha-Betts-Orr

Is it that hard Tom?

Sit Dawes. He's not right. Play Prucha or trade him. Get rid of Sjo.

Lets Go Rangers!

Prucha with the hat trick!

Seriously... another one from Redden, one from Gomer, and one from Naslund.

I don't think putting in Vally was a stupid idea. The Flyers always seem to give Hank problems

Why is putting in vally a stupid idea? hank played great last night and lets not forget all the europe/traveling stuff and whatnot.

plus valliquette has a great record against this team ,he'll be pumped more than anyone else.

Lets go rangers and lets go vally!

Lundqvist has played 1 game in the last 6 days..why does he need a rest? When your goalie is playing hot you keep playing him.

The team has filled up on confidence winning its last 5 games (preseason included)...the last thing I want is Vally going in net, playing like he did in the preseason, and deflating the rangers confidence. Especially vs a Division rival.

As for last year....we had Jagr dominating vs Philly most nights...so I really don't care about what has happened in the past.
