Personally I did not like Sergei Kostsitsyn that much last year but this year.. man he is impressive. Hopefully he will keep the same cruising speed for the year, but to me he looks stronger, faster seems to shoot more. He as been imo our best player after two games.

I've heard people say that Sergei used to tell people that he was the best passer on his line in jr ... I think he might be right, lol
Latendresse is, IMO, a bigger surprise. We saw really good things from Kostitsyn last year, less so for Latendresse.
2 games in, he looks great. Better position, better defensive play, good physical presence, in the corners and in front of the net, soft hands, and, most importantly, NHL level skating.
Sergei and Guillaume are, also, both 21. What will they look like in 3-4 years?

Totally agree. Definitely the biggest surprise for me is Latendresse.

same here...
Last year, Latendresse was a dissapointement, he was slow and lost on the ice. This year, he's involved in the play, he's positioning himself better and he skates better.
I also can't beleive that him and Sergei are only 21... Wow, they're already good players for us as it stands. Imagine when they hit their prime! wow!
he might finish with the most goals with the canadiens
major lol
Lats is better, but he's still losing too many 1-on-1 battles and he's got to work on his shot. It is encouraging though.
Sergei is way ahead in every category IMO. I'm starting to believe he'll get more points than his brother. I seriously think that they need to put Tanguay with SK and Lang. Higgins, Koivu and Lats would be a good line as well.

The thing is, the lines probably won't stay the same all year long and about every possible lines are looking good on paper. I agree with your line idea, but someone else would come with something totally different and it would still be an awesome line. With our top9, it's hard to mess up and come with bad lines.
Honestly, I've got to say Hamrlik. The guy didn't play a damn preseason game (ok, just one). He looks like he's in mid-season shape. Latendresse is solid as well.
HM to Lang, who's looking great so far. Tanguay had one hell of a night as well, but I was expecting him to get a good one sooner than later .
By the way, on that topic, thanks to miroKarosu who did a great job designing my Tangs avatar.
Hamrlik had 7 shots on net last night and has a goal tonight... He's looking more like the guy whom the Habs signed 5.5M for. He didn't look this strong last season IMO. But the season has only begun.
To be surprised, it had to mean that your expectations had to be fairly low. Which was the case for me with Lang. Was expecting a PP specialist, that's all. I kinda liked O'Byrne in general, he looked a little faster than he looked last year. And I'll chip in like some and also say Hammer.
I am expecting to see Latendresse shines more than last year so I can't put him in my surprises list but I'm pleased.

I like tanguay Koivu Lats, Tanguay Koivu Higgins and would not mind Tanguay Lang Kostsitsyn and Higgins, Koivu Latendresse and we may very well see all of these variation during the season.
I agree with some of the posts saying that Lats is a suprise .. to me he isnt much of a suprise. He just has a chance to play in a role that suites him better then what he had in the past. Sergei on the other hand is showing so things I did not expect from him, he seems to be much faster then last year, better defensively, stronger along the boards (same whith his bro btw) and seems to be willing to shoot more this year. I would not be suprised to see him with 50pts by season end

heck, I wouldn't be surprised if it was even more!
A.Kostitsyn for me. He's looked like the most potent Hab for me, in fact. Looks stronger, more creative, more mature, and far more dangerous.
I agree, he looks as big as Kovalev on the ice and he's clearly improved his skills. But I'll go with Latendresse, I was expecting this from Sergei, he's really improved all facets of his game. For now.

I guess you missed him de-cleat "the human eraser" Schenn at least twice in the game, huh?
