Hawks qualify 10

(BHZ)
The Blackhawks decided to qualify 10 players and give them 10 percent raises if they made the league minimum, or their same contract if they made above the league minimum last season. The offers automatically carry a term of one season.

These players are Craig Anderson, Mark Bell, Bryan Berard, Kyle Calder, Eric Daze, Michael Leighton, Steve McCarthy, Stephane Robidas, Jocelyn Thibault and Jim Vandermeer.

The Blackhawks also picked up a club option on Winger Scott Nichol by qualifying him for next seasonm and signed Quintin Laing to a one year extension.

The Blackhawks also decided not to give goalie Matt Underhill, forward Brett McLean, defenseman Deron Quint, Jason Strudwick, Jonathan Aitken and Burke Henry qualifying offers, making all four players unrestricted free agents on July 1st.

I dont know where you copied that from, but what they said about the 10% raise is not accurate. Whether or not a qualifying offer requires the 10% raise depends on whether or not they are above the leaguewide average salary (after bonuses & incentives) and has nothing to do with whether or not they made the league minimum.

Did you not expect Eric Daze to be qualified?

Blackhawkzone is a fan-based site. I noticed several errors in it even before I posted it (i.e. the group VI free agents, who can't recieve QO's anyway), but the point got across.

I expected it, but I hoped he wouldn't.

What was this about Daze, Thibault and Berard getting two way qualifying offers?

Its Pulford and the Hawks way of giving a big F.U. to the players.

I thought McLean had a pretty good year. Why wasn't he qualified? Are the Hawks just trying to save money and get these guys come back at a cheaper price?
