I'm all for that. The Kings were thoroughly outclassed tonight and if tonight is a sign of things to come this season, we really will have a fighting chance at Hedman.
This was the first game of the season and they were playing what looks to me to be the best team in the league...not the easiest of entries into the NHL for a group of young kids still getting acclimated to one another and to playing in the big leagues. I'd wait a couple of weeks, or at least until they match up against a team that's not the Sharks, to proclaim them the lowest of the low.
There is no substitute for experience. Which is one reason I was against icing so many rookies. Having some inexperienced players out there is great and helps them learn....having a majority of the roster that inexperienced is never a good thing.
I come in peace yet again. Good game for the most part. A lot more uptempo after the 1st period, and LaBarbera played well for most of the game too.
Anyway, my reason for being here is that at the end of every GDT for the Sharks I do a graphic post-game wrap-up and I like to share it with the other team's GDT too.

That was the most nervous looking team I've seen in a long time. They hesitated on almost every pass and play. Couple that with a great SJ team that gets their sticks in every lane, and you are in for a long night like the Kings were. They did start to look a bit more comfortable and confident in the third, but I bet it's going to take a few weeks before we see how good the team is. It's going to be rough until that confidence comes.
Other than just playing badly, the Kings were BORING tonight. I hope this isn't a sign of Murray's system.
Moulson was horrible on the 1st line, Kopitar set him up in the slot and Moulson was too slow to react and get a shot on net. Mouslon was never in a good spot for a pass and didn't help in the corners. Kopitar and Brown seemed like they were playing shorthanded in the offensive zone all night with Moulson.
Moller looked good in the second half of the game, but should still be sent back to juniors. No reason to waste a year of his ELC on this season.
Doughty was okay, except for that poor read on the pinch that lead to the 3rd goal against.
Greene and Stoll were invisible and slow, they made Handzus look quick. This better not be what we got for Visnovsky.
Johnson -3; Brown -3; Kopitar -2; Not a good sign when the "core" plays this badly.
Best stat from the game: PP time for Armstrong - 0:00

Fair enough. I'm not a sky-is-falling kind of guy, but let's just charitably say that my expectations are "moderate" for the Kings this season.
On the plus side tonight, I thought 2 guys in particular, Moller and Handzus, were impressive compared to my moderate expectations of them. I'm also happy that Sean O'Donnell is on board and pleased to see his smart plays tonight.

Your expectations are where they should be. I'm not expecting much either (or, at least, I'm trying not to). But, as I said, I think we'll have to wait a bit to truly get a read on this group.
Yeah, we all know how good he was in the frist 10 games of last season....it is the other 72 that were the probelm.
I know....but something inside me thinks he will rebound in a big way this season (30+ goals and 70+ points). If that is the case I believe we will be regretting this trade for years to come....but hey....that's just my opinion.
Yes he did, thanks to one vertical pipe on his left and one on his right.
At the same time he did face 41 shots tonight to 13 for the Sharks.
I just can't see how we would think Labs would be the big problem tonight. Many different issues, mainly being one of a whole lot of youth and inexperience at the NHL level. Not to mention how good the Sharks look to start the season.

If it makes you feel any better, Cammy just turned the puck over resulting in the game winning goal by Dimitra!
