So, Hamrlik decides he's become an O.D.

What's happening to Hamerlik?

He seems to want to support the offense more this year.

Like.. A few times I've seen him cut to the front of the net or do forecheck, get good shots on goal from good places on the ice.

Maybe he wants Dandy's place on offence?

Hamrlik was drafted as an offensive d-man. He has put up offensive numbers before. He doesn't take as many chances as he used to, but he's definitely capable. In the pre-lockout, he was often the PP QB on his respective teams.

The habs coaches encourage all the D to jump in the play, it's a very effective weapon when executed well. Saw Gorges doing it tonight a few times also.

The reason why he doesn't support the offense as much is that he' playing with guys like O'Byrne and Breezer.

He's simply playing with more confidence since having a great year last year.

Mainly because he didn't have to last year because we had Streit. We need Hamrlik to produce more this year.

With O'Byrne I think he trusts him more now to pinch. With Brisebois, he probably feels like Carbo should be playing another defenseman to make up for Brisebois brain farts.

I believe the word is renaissance.

Until recently Hamrlik has definitely been an offensive minded player. Getting him into the mix again is part of the fun factor that I think will be one of the signatures of the team this year.

I'm thinking.....(not that it needs any help...) but can he become the shooter on the PP while Markov remains the passer???

Yes he can, but not at the expense of losing Tanguay-Markov on the 1st wave, IMO, Carbo should be putting Hamrlik-S.Kost on the 2nd wave, and he should do it soon cause when Bouillon is back that's bye bye Brisebois. They need to find chemistry cause we need those pp goals badly

This is the answer. Im certain that Carbo has asked Hamrlik to get more involved in the offence this year. So far, so good.

Maybe he got confidence in O'Byrne and his defencive ability. Because if you don't get confidence in your partner defencive fiability, you don't rush the play, especially if you are a veteran.

I think it's because we have a much better club this year, even better than last year, that if he gets caught pinching it's not going to kill us everytime.

I was so pumped when he scored the opening goal last night.
I had my Hamrlik jersey on and most people in my section did not even know who he was, they thought it was my last name.,
